1 /5 Jake Hagerdorn: Mark Shannahan was a fantastic agent when I received my First License back in 1994! I was a Long standing customer who never had any complaints nor issues with payment/terms.
After a Hit and run accident on Interstate 74 happened, My agent stated that I needed to pay my deductible and THEN they would attempt to go after the Hit and run Gentleman and try and recoup my deductible. I was able to provide them the License plate, A picture of the person who left the scene and(later on,) I provided the 911 call that someone had phoned in after seeing the incident.
My agent never did ANYTHING. So after being frustrated I cancelled my policy and took everything to State Farm.
Fastforward 3 months and I get a "collections call attempting to collect a debt from American Family Insurance." After going through several hoops, I found that American Family continued to bill me because they did not have the "Declaration page of insurance" from my new company, State Farm. Since that was the case, They claimed i had a $190 "PAST DUE" Balance. No phone call to me to ask/explain. No attempt to contact me other than "Our Corporate offices State they sent you 3 letters"(Which i never received.)
So After all of this, I was told to prove with the Declaration page. Done. Now I am told that since it was ALREADY sent to Collections, there is nothing that can be done.
So Long story short, Unless you prove that you switched away from Mark Shannahans office, They will continue to bill you and then send you to collections.
Good Luck! I am now "Jake with State Farm!"
