1 /5 Michael Langill: This firm is incompetent, unprofessional and irresponsible. Do not use them if you have any sort of inheritance that involves a trust. This firm did not know how to handle a Retirement Trust, and rather than notify the beneficiary of an issue, they chose to just omit a very important 1099-R from the filing. As the Trustee, when I found this out, I notified them immediately to file an amended to return to properly report the income. They refused.
I will be seeking damages from this malpractice and also submit appropriate complaints with State and Federal organizations.
What accounting firm would ever be so irresponsible? When in doubt, file a "conservative" return that overpays and if in error, apply for the refund. Their choice has resulted in penalties that should have never happened. From the IRS perspective, they have committed fraud by underreporting income and attempting to short the government. I am just glad I took the time to review the return and make adjustments myself.
They should not receive a single star ... but if you do not give them 1-star, you cannot leave a review!
