5 /5 Nicholas Kriho: Order the onion rings if you do nothing more here.
I dont usually go around taking pictures of food. But this stuff was just astounding.
As I said to my wife Dawne, this is the place Ive been seeking for seventeen thousand miles in three months.
This is a true mom and pop place.
And, most importantly, the owners Barb and Gary are just wonderful.
Not only did they name an excellent sandwich after me ("Kipps Creo Burger," pronounced exactly the same as our name, Kriho), But they filled us to overflowing with local lore, history, and travel advice.
If they call Missouri "The Show Me State," then here on this side of the river (if these two sweet people are anything to go by), Id call illinois the "Tell Me State."
Barb and Gary, you have no idea how cool it was to be chatting with you. I wish we had more time.
Also. ALSO! Barb cooks up all manner of specialty jellies, many of which they have on hand right there.
The food in this tiny (maybe three-table) restaurant is outstanding, inexpensive, and as far as we can tell, exactly as described on the menu.
If you dont adore this place, then you must be dead, or they must be having a really really really really bad day.
The owners are truly what makes up a place-- and especially this place.
