3 /5 StarSeeker: What can I say—this place screams “senior center,” but with a full bar. It’s quiet, the staff is genuinely friendly, and it’s fine if you just need a quick bite and aren’t too picky about the details.
Unfortunately, the details matter.
My husband and I tried it for the first time. I got the Reuben, which was honestly very good-nice rye, tender corned beef, cooked perfectly, with hot, decent fries. My husband ordered the Hummingbird burger well-done… and it came out practically rare, dry on the outside but cold and pink inside. He said it was also pretty flavorless. The onion rings were pretty good though.
We each had a Bloody Mary. The drinks were okay, but the garnishes were gross: olives that tasted like Play-Doh and old celery, oh and old dried up pickles next to my sandwich and my husbands raw burger that had clearly been sitting out for awhile. When even the garnish is that old, it makes you question the rest of the quality control.
The decor is a weird clash of trying to be modern while still feeling outdated—like someone started a remodel ten years ago and just gave up halfway. There’s also a faint band-aid/antiseptic smell in the air (not sure if it’s the bathroom, cleaning products, or what).
Bottom line: If you’re looking for a quiet spot, friendly service, and super basic food, it’ll do. If you want fresh garnishes, a burger cooked to the temperature you actually ordered, or any real attention to detail, keep driving. Nice people, but the food just isn’t worth it.
