5 /5 Steve W: Omg, this place is amazing! Its like a trip back in time, great food, and lots of it. Wish I had fully appreciated this place when I was going to school in Carbondale, but I only went a handful of times. I have been trying to make up for the lost opportunity since by going every time I am back in town. Every breakfast item I have tried has been amazing, the biscuits and gravy are to die for! The French toast and pancakes are also spectacular. They give you a lot of food for a really good price, it takes me two or three meals to eat it all

5 /5 Ric: This was the first breakfast weve had in Carbondale. As for breakfast restaurants in southern Illinois, this place is now the gold standard. We tried the breakfast special: Strawberry and cream cheese stuffed French toast. It was delicious. The filling wasnt too little nor too much between two thick slices of Texas toast. The bacon was okay. Our server did a decent job keeping our coffee filled. Coffee or tea was included in your meal, which is nice. Portions are generous. I feel its definitely worth the price. The interior is shabby without any chic. Simply functional and clean. For two people youre going to pay with tip $30-40. Seems to be a local favorite. Well be comparing all other breakfast restaurants in the area to Mary Lous.

5 /5 Sundae Sparks: This is one of my favorites!! The atmosphere is filled with nostalgia of celebrities that have passed through. The staff is friendly and always remember my face when I visit. (Hey Trina!!) The food is always cooked to order and delicious. Ive never had to send anything back or complain. Definitely a place to try.

1 /5 shelby R: Biscuts and gracy were delicious, but I got a veggie omelet. It was the worst omelet Ive ever had in my life and im not a picky person. The mushroom and onion tasted so burnt and the toppings were only in the very middle. Ohh 98$ for 3 adults and 2 kids!!!! Will not go back.

5 /5 ALICIA: Mary’s Lou’s Diner in Carbondale, IL, is a cozy, old-fashioned diner near Route 51. It’s busy and has fast service, making it great for a quick meal. Just keep in mind they close at 2 PM. Worth a visit!
