2 /5 Evan King: The good: the atmosphere is nice. Dimly lit, candles on the tables. The food was good. It was well prepared and presented thoughtfully.
The bad: Though good, the food was not great either. It was also a bit overpriced for what it was and the portions are quite small. What really hurt the experience was that we had a reservation for 3. I showed up before the other 2, but was told they were at the bar and I could find them and wait for our table which wasnt quite ready. I went to the bar and was indifferently kicked out of that area by the bartender because it was apparently a private party. I laughed since I had just been sent there by the hostess. She seemed not to care. She said nothing and didnt acknowledge the awkwardness or inconvenience. My party was not at the bar. I went back to ask the hostess what to do since my party wasnt there. Nobody seemed to know or care, and nobody apologized or even acknowledged the awkward inconvenience.
Then the other two people came in. We were gathering for a birthday. Everyone was happy and looking forward to dinner, though my mood was starting to dampen. Then the waiting began, despite it being our reservation time. They asked us to wait. With staff seemingly indifferent to the situation, we were not seated until 30 minutes AFTER the reservation. Leading up to that, they offered patio seating and another less desirable option, at no point acknowledging what was happening. It just wasnt well handled, to say nothing of the obvious lack of planning and organization that caused the issue. It was disappointing and Im not sure Ive ever had service that lacking at a restaurant that presents itself as nice as this one.
