4 /5 Melvin C: The Mill Bar and Grill - A Welcoming Find in Sesser
Stepping into The Mill Bar and Grill in Sesser on a recent Saturday, just after 11:15 AM, I confess I almost turned away. The parking lot was entirely empty, leading me to believe they might not even be open yet. However, a quick check of the door confirmed they were indeed welcoming patrons.
Upon entering, the dining area was, at that moment, completely empty, allowing us to choose our seating freely. Our server, who was both friendly and efficient, quickly appeared to take our drink orders and provide menus. While she retrieved our beverages, we perused the offerings.
She then enthusiastically informed us of the days special: a Cajun catfish sandwich served with fries. Intrigued, and with a desire for something warm and fresh, we decided to give it a try.
Our food arrived in a remarkably timely fashion, a welcome surprise given the quiet atmosphere. Both the catfish and fries were piping hot and tasted distinctly fresh. The flavor was good, though I must confess, the "Cajun" aspect was a bit subtle for my palate. There was a sauce drizzled over the fish, but it didnt impart the robust, spicy kick one typically associates with Cajun seasoning. That being said, the fish itself was well-cooked, and the fries were perfectly crispy.
What truly elevated the experience was the service. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, and her friendly demeanor made for a very pleasant interaction. Interestingly, as we were enjoying our meal, other patrons began to arrive, and there was a steady flow of customers coming and going as we prepared to leave. This added a nice touch of local life to the otherwise quiet start.
Overall, despite the initial quiet, The Mill Bar and Grill delivered a good dining experience. The food was hot and fresh, and the service was fast and friendly. We left feeling satisfied and will certainly be returning to explore more of their menu.
