Bliss Park - Effingham (IL)

5 /5 noop inlo: Its pretty fun to shoot hoops and walk around in this beautiful place when it gets to sunset. Ive made good memories here and I think itll be nice for your children (if you have any) to make future memories at any park in your area.

5 /5 Esb: Came to visit Effingham to see the park my ancestor Alfred Bliss donated land for. Pleasant area. One block each side. Surrounded by houses. This would be a decent place for reunion or BBQ or where kids can run around. They have restrooms [not opened until a few days after I was there] and play areas. I drove around looking for this stone I had seen online. One stone on opposite corner was faded and not cleaned. [Somewhat disappointed by that] Im so proud this park has my ancestors name attached. I would return with family to visit it for sure.

3 /5 Danielle Pagel: The park and play areas were very nice! I was disappointed that the restrooms had no place to change my daughters diaper though! I expected there to be a changing table in the restrooms, but that wasnt the case. Needless to say we had to change her in the car, which was an inconvenience.

4 /5 Vickie Bloemer: Came her with my grandma many times when I was younger. The Pavillion is gone. It was a classic building. The park is still adorable. Will bring my grandkids her some day. Need to contact garden club. Roses are being strangled by vines. Needs weeding and trimming too. Squirrels are very friendly and so cute. Will visit again soon.

3 /5 cyberpimp29: Memories of the 1980s and a 24-hour park that at one point had a drinking fountain and two working restrooms. Fast forward to the early 90s; to a park vandalized on a nightly basis. The drinking fountain kicked off the wall. Both toilets destroyed over and over and finally locked up 24-7. Even the water fountain was vandalized and ruined. Today, Bliss Park and its gentrified neighborhood have made a nice recovery. As with all houses in the ancient part of Effingham some are renovated beautiful multistory homes next to dillapidated converted apartments. The park has been cleaned up with new equipment while keeping the beautuful old trees and remenants of the old red brick road. The park is again safe for children during the day and probably safe for adults at night.
