Lincoln Continental Mark IV
Its been more than 6 weeks now and no one at CARSS has followed up. $3,500 bill covering a dozen items with some 4 of them all fails. Requested consideration and yet owner Chris refuses to call. What a wally~!
Service description: full service, fluids, tune-up and maintenance.
Brought a low mileage barn find sitting for some years for full service and safety maintenance. Advised it would be 1-2 weeks. Took 4 weeks, thought the final bill total was their phone number and overlooked the most fundamental items:
1) Their idea of tune-up is plugs, wires, cap. Nevermind about timing, points, vacuum lines. Not done and car runs like #$^%@
2) Totally ignored carburetor with sticking throttle, choke and air filter is simply just balancing on the carburettor. All to and fro vacuum lines for the carburettor are blocked off with bolts.
3) Replaced rear brakes but did not bleed correctly. Rebleed required
4) Transmission not checked. Low fluid. Trans slips. Easily rectified with oil top-up
5) After 4 weeks, only on day of return, they advise "a small leak" from hydro-boost ($500+). Diagnosis completely wrong. A quick wash down clearly revealed a split $25 power-steering line that dumped entire p/steer fluid within 5 miles. Now replaced.
6) Loose fan belts pointed out from day one not replaced and still loose. Power steering “stutters” because of slipping belt.
7) Did good job with fuel tank & lines replacement and radiator replacement but 50% mark-up on parts
This Mark IV Lincoln is an original presenting, factory body, paint & top example with immaculate un-touched leather interior. And yet, left to sit outside in the rain for 4 weeks when not worked on even though there were free and available bays indoors.
Commented twice on this during the service period and yet continued the practice of leaving her in the rain. Did not even clean car upon completion.
Waiting 2 weeks to discuss modest $500 compensation but owner doesn’t return phone calls. Sends emails that are simply rude.
Might be ok for your winter beater but don’t take anything nice to them.
** UPDATE ** Phone calls not replied, emails requesting an appointment to resolve, not replied. Only now when owner sees the negative reviews popping up, they write in reply to this review, they want to talk. It has now been 3 weeks and I think if any service provider wants to fix a problem with a customer unhappy with their work, its up to the business owner to reach out. They have not. You dont wait for the -ve reviews to act.
