Cornerstone Church - Marion (IL)

2 /5 AR Robinson: September 1, 2024 Someone let the serpent into the Garden of Eden. This place WAS wonderful. And it does still have age appropriate child care, coffee BEFORE the service, extremely talented singers, musicians, soundboard crew, greeters, study groups. All together just an amazing crew of folks working tirelessly to pull off 3 services/week. A great TEAM! Then an inside group of unknown individuals decided their Lead Pastor Michael Nave (who had been with Cornerstone since atleast 2011), needed to be taken down a notch. During the apology video by Pastor Nave (I thought someone had died, it was that bad) he stated he had contributed to a toxic work environment…The speaker following the video stated the suspension was NOT due to s*xual or financial misconduct. Well, that’s good. September 8, 2024 Attendance down by 25-30%. Speaker was average. Michael was extraordinary. Music is still very good, so there’s that. Spoke w/an Elder re Michael Naves absence and its effect on attendance. He states Cornerstone is a Christ Centered church. Aren’t ALL Christian churches “Christ centered?” I drive past a slew of “Christ centered” churches from Carbondale, Cambria, Carterville, Herrin. Why would I travel all the way to Marion CornerStone? Michael Nave. I don’t care your beliefs, Michael could speak and you would hear. Believe in a higher being or not, Cornerstone had an amazing vector to influence people to follow Christ. Emphasis on had. The “jury” is still deciding whether or not to re-instate Pastor Nave and it’s not looking good. Praying the serpent doesn’t win.

5 /5 Krissy Tucker: Cornerstone has taught me how to walk and live a child of Gods life. And when they preach, its more of a teaching experience with surrendering. And the music there, is what caught me first. So glad to be a part of Cornerstone

1 /5 Bethsheba Johnson: 1st Corinthians 9:18. This saddens me to have to do this but I feel like others should know. It breaks my heart and is also embarrassing to me to even let ppl know my situation but I am currently unemployed. I have been a member of this church since 2006. I have gave money to this church on multiple occasions. Ive had no luck finding a job. I had to humble myself and ask for help. The salvation army told me that Cornerstone would help with my electricity bill. I told the lady from the salvation army that I didnt think they would bc I asked several years ago. She said that they are supposed bc they told us they would. So, I embarrassingly went to my church and explained to the secretary that the salvation army told me that they would help. Cornerstone did give me a $25 gas card and she also told me that she spoke to Im just going to say pastor without throwing out names and that he said that if I didnt have a job when it was due to contact them and they would help. So, I contacted them today and even asked for the minimum $51 to help to defer and was told no by the pastor. I have been told by several ppl over the years that this church is all about money but still I chose not to believe that. Today, I have changed my mind and I will never step foot in that church ever again and sadly I will also say is this what Jesus would have done? This is not a church of God. Pastor Michael Nave it seems to me left this church bc he felt like it became a show and a business. He also said he felt like Cornerstone was not helping their own ppl and also said he felt like they were basically changing the preaching of the Bible to coincide with things going on in this day and age, instead of preaching the actual Gospel. All of the reasons why I will never step foot in Cornerstone Church again. Pastor Michael Nave has started a new church in Marion. The Mission Church of Southern Illinois, thats where I will be going from now on.

5 /5 Megan Hiller: Wonderful church, Spirit-filled atmosphere, loving environment, thought provoking sermons, fantastic kids programs and child care, etc. Most importantly, Jesus Christ is always at the center of everything. My daughter and I have been at this church for just about 3 years and we both love it.

5 /5 Terry McKay: A truly great experience. I was made to feel welcome from the moment I approach the front doors. Pastor Michael Nave message was straight out of the book of Matthew, and was very informative as well as timely. I highly recommend visiting Cornerstone Church if you’re ever in the area.
