5 /5 Jeremy Davis: Beautiful Lake and Forest Preserve with miles of well-maintained trails. Trails are wide and in great shape, and accessible to all activity levels. The trail around Herrick Lake offers beautiful views. Theres over 8 miles of trails available with a good amount without shade, so I recommend coming prepared on a warm day. Note: The Meadowlark Trail was closed as of 3/14/25.

5 /5 Kandis (Kamera): This is one of my favorite places to take a walk. It’s a beautiful place. It was busy with a couple of events (5k, baby shower, and a picnic, but didn’t feel crowded. It’s a beautiful place & well maintained with public bathrooms available.

Beginning of the season and mist trails and such are still run down from the winter, nope. 11/10 clean and beautiful. Parking lots where all packed thats how nice of a day it was. 5.5 miles of trails was amazing with no holes and tons of directions at every intersection of trail

First Division Museum at Cantigny - Wheaton

Maureen K. Flavin: I took some out of town guest to explore Cantigny. The museum and tanks are always a highlight. Whatever your age, there is something for you. Our tour guide was fantastic and at the end, he told us he had served in Vietnam. It was impactful to have served and proudly describe the 1st Division’s impact around the world. The Cantigny gardens and Colonel McCormick’s home were also amazing.

Rathje Park - Wheaton

Will Johns: Great park for toddlers 5 and under. Soft ground out door mat instead of wood chips. 6 swings, 3 pullups bars. Theres a fishing pond and baseball dimond. Im not sure what the building onsite is for. But there are porta potties for bathrooms.

Lorna Rasmussen: It was surprisingly awesome. I think I was expecting it to focus only on Billy Graham but instead it gave a whole history of evangelism and evangelist, including Billy Graham. I could have spent hours there. It was inspirational and reminded me of how God calls people into ministry, to live an share His story. What a hope we have through Jesus of Nazareth

The Morton Arboretum - Lisle

Lacie K: I purchased tickets online for a small discount. The entrance was gated with a lady working in a booth. She was pleasant and gave us a map of the park. There was plenty of parking. The park was absolutely beautiful! I loved how all the trees and plants were marked with their names. Informative boards were posted along the paths. Extra large, amazing sculptures were along the paths. There were plenty of areas for the kids and several areas for you to sit, relax and take in the scenery.

Jeremy Davis: Beautiful lake with a trail that goes around it. The walk around the lake is awesome, with many vantage points, photo opportunities, and really good scenery. Theres benches and picnic tables available, as well as two parking lots with ample parking close by.

Childrens Garden - Lisle

Justin Vergason: Lovely children’s garden inside of Morton arboretum Has a hedge maze which is very cool! Make sure to take a photo before going in, if you get lost there’s a nice viewing spot to find your way out. Plenty of room for kids to roam and explore, plenty of interactive climbing and slides Plenty of room to explore!

Seven Gables Park - Wheaton

Michael Perry: Great park with plenty of space. Gets filled up quickly when spring and summer sports are in full swing. Exiting and entering the park through limited entrances can be a real challenge!

Matthew Gilbert: A favorite of mine. They have a great museum and the staff are very knowledgeable about everything. Edgar county. I went there to do some research and they had a lot of information and were very very helpful. If you like history you need to go here and spend some time. Its definitely worth it.
