Life-size statues ring the back wall of the altar - a wondrous sight to behold! The Friends of St. Rose of Lima Chapel offers weekly times for "devotion." Just google their website, they post a calendar that shows these weekly times, as well as their monthly mass (usually last Friday evening of the month, but is a different Friday in December 2021). My grandparents were married here. My great-grandmother lived right around the corner (big white house, 4th Ave, front porches up and down)...thus, this church is important to our family... along with hundreds (thousands) of others whose roots are deep in Kankakee.

Thank you pastor Harry Schmidt for condemning my mother for being a smoker and refusing her official membership. She cried for months over this. Fortunately it allowed 12yr old me to see through the ecclesiastical veneer and decide to think for myself, I am eternally gratefull!
