5 /5 Joe YIN: I visited the McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum around 10:00 AM, unsure if there would be a bridge lift event that day. Fortunately, Josh was incredibly helpful and explained that the bridge lift was likely to happen between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Thanks to his clear and thoughtful communication, I was able to return around noon and witness the fascinating bridge lift in person! Inside the museum, there’s a great exhibit that explains the mechanics behind the bridge and offers rich insight into its history and cultural significance. I especially appreciated the short “intel” session before the event, which included a sound signal (a ring) that helped me anticipate the exact moment to start taking photos. Overall, I highly recommend the McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum. Josh’s outstanding communication made my visit truly memorable. Thanks again, Josh!

5 /5 Ethan F: We stumbled on the museum while walking along the Riverwalk. It was quick and mostly stairs but it gives you a view of the river and Michigan Ave you rarely get to see. You also get a good amount of Chicago history and a look at what the bridge lift mechanisms. If you need a break from the weather, its worth a stop.

5 /5 Rob Keisling: It was free when I visited. Stopped in for something different asking the Riverwalk. They suggested you could spend 30 minutes to go through everything, I spent about 20 but didnt read half the stuff, if you really get into it, could probably take closer to an hour. Interesting history of the river and bridges as part of the history of Chicago. Views from the windows are unique and worth the stop alone. Many stairs, expect a wait to pass. They have a small gift section as a way to support them. Recommend visiting if in the area, hidden gem
