Pastor Colin has a gift for creating a space that all feel welcome no matter who you are. He helps you feel supported in your faith journey and his sermons are spiritually enriching as well as providing practical guidance for daily life. The music is a beautiful blend of contemporary and traditional that work seamlessly together to help create a wonderful atmosphere, all by accomplished musicians. St. Mark’s also has a strong community focus of outreach. From bake sales to chili suppers and more, raising funds to help local non-profits is a year around effort at St. Mark’s, and a wonderful way to get involved. The children’s ministry is growing as well. With a dedicated Sunday School teacher, and Pastor Colin leading youth ministry for the older kids, St. Mark’s provides a safe and fun environment for all children. Since Covid, St. Mark’s has expanded to include Live Stream Sunday Service. Whether you’re traveling and want to tune in while away, to anyone recovering from something that doesn’t allow for attending in person, to those that want to experience what St. Mark’s is all about from the comfort of your own home, you can tune in every Sunday at 10:00 am CST! If you’ve read this far, congratulations! It’s a long review, but wanted to share my honest thoughts and try to include some of the many facets that make up this church and its people. If you’re new to the area, or just looking for someplace new to continue your faith journey, I highly recommend St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Waukegan. You might just be glad you did!

    MLU TC: After moving and purchasing our home in the area, and with the busy flow of family life and work life, finding our church home, especially for me, was super important, and I wanted something fun for my little one. I had no idea what to expect other than making it a priority to wake up and get the family up, no matter the fight and struggle of everyone wanting to sleep in and not get out of pajamas, to go to church on Easter morning. I cant express the energy of just pure happiness, and just the energy you felt from others of just saying hi, good morning, and welcome just made the morning just so much better. I cannot express the talent of all the women singing on stage; their beauty was radiant today on Easter and their voices out of this world, truly, and the message and the way the pastor spoke with truthfulness and honesty, with a sprinkle of the best humor that all ages can relate to, and his words that could resonate with those of all ages, were really meaningful. It was truly a beautiful service. I loved the special merch for today; we got a shirt and hat. I will continue to come and support ♡ Thank you for a beautiful morning! ♡♡♡♡♡
