5 /5 Dawn Thomas: We had to take our Suburban for brake pads and possible rotors all the way around. We supplied the brake pads but were told they were the wrong size, so they informed us and also said we did need new rotors as well. They got all the parts in no time and got it fixed for us. They are very inexpensive and I dont feel like I am being ripped off, unlike alot of mechanic shops nowadays. We also had to get our air charged but unfortunately it wasnt a quick fix. We need a new compressor. He quoted us our price and we will happily be returning to them for all of our auto repairs. Go see James and his great crew at P & F Automotive in Clinton, Illinois. However, A/C when you have kids, it’s the dead of summer with temps like we’ve had, with a vehicle that has black leather seats…..it’s almost a necessity. Well, our A/C went completely out with no warning and we needed it fixed quickly and affordably. P and F did just that. They were super friendly and helpful. They did everything they could to ensure we got the best price and communicated everything throughout the process. I can’t thank James and his crew enough for helping us get back on the road with a working A/C again. (Cassandra)

Was also told another thing that needs fixed on my car and got a price quote for that as well. Will definitely be going through them from now on.

AngelV23: June 24: I was charged almost $1,000 to get my Emergency brake fixed and it still not working, this is very dangerous specially because they said it was fixed. I’ll drop the truck tomorrow and I expect them to fix it, for now I’ll leave this review and may change if they are responsible to complete this job correctly. Pdta: It works on reverse but not forward June 26: I went yesterday and day fixed everything in lest than 20min, they did a great job on my ac and E-Brakes. Definitely recommend them and will come back

Performance Transmissions - Clinton

Danny Sauer: I have rebuilt my own transmissions, but wanted the convenience of having someone else take care of this one for me. I provided specifications for how id be using this auto trans (a TH400) in person, and the work was done up to my standards (in other words, it was perfect) at a fair price in a reasonable period of time. The guy who did the work was very knowledgeable about the transmission, and his suggestions were solid. I pulled the pan off when I got it back in order to paint it, and the work inside matched what was promised. Its been a few years, and the transmission is still working as expected despite "a bit" of abuse. I rarely use mechanics, because they almost never do work the way Id do it on my own car. Transmission shops are often especially sketchy, since people think transmissions are magic. Performance Transmissions is the rare exception who does honest, fantastic work, and Id consequently have zero reservations about suggesting them to anyone.

I was trained as a mechanic many years ago but never have time to work on my own cars so was looking for a shop that I trusted. After trying several in Monticello and not satisfied I thought I’d give Crawley’s a shot as I prefer smaller independent shops. Not knowing what to expect I was pleasantly surprised at the great work that they did at a very fair rate. I’ll be going back here for all my automotive work.
