5 /5 Philip Tarzan: This is one section of a beautiful park with a paved lit sidewalk weaving around flower beds, magnificent old trees, and building with botanical garden and bathrooms. Perfect place to walk without stumbling. Thomas Rees Carillon is a delightful, unique feature near the path with regular songs and special concerts besides the normal time chimes that you hear.

4 /5 shubhankar nanda: Nice park. Visited on my trip to Springfield and really enjoyed seeing the fauna. Theres also a botanical garden for people to visit but had to skip it due to shortage of time. This also serves as a great quiet picnic spot, offering lots of relaxation opportunities.

5 /5 Lillianna Huerta: It was my first time visiting Washington Park. Despite coming to see it in the winter, it was beautiful! I also thought it was so cool to have an indoor botanical garden to be able to see beautiful flowers throughout the year. Bring a penny and two quarters to get to make a botanical garden penny. This is definitely a park I will come back to see every season.

5 /5 Denai C: What a cute little park in the heart of Springfield. We stopped by the stretch our legs after a long drive and we’re hoping to hear the bells in the tower. Unfortunately we were there to early in the day, but we did get to hear the on the half hour bells. The flower gardens were beautiful and well maintained for the most part. They did just have a horrible storm come through but had the park cleaned up for the most part.

m j: Our candlelight tour was wonderful! Due to the weather, we almost had all the interpreters to ourselves. This is a wonderfully restored and maintained Springfield treasure. Highly recommend you visit once they reopen in the spring or make it to the Candlelight tour next year.

Knights Action Park - Springfield

Joshua Alan Lutz: Knights Action Park is a gem! Our kids (2, 4, 6 & 8) all had a wonderful time. We bounced around from section to section and tried out each water slide and attraction. It wasnt until later in the day that we even realized there was a big wave pool! After drying off, we closed out our experience on the go-carts, which were fun :) Highly recommend reserving a day of vacation to this place!

Old State Capitol State Historic Site - Springfield

Dustin Ebaugh: We had a great time here at the old Capitol. We enjoyed the self guided tour and listening to the Lincoln Troubadours sing in the rotunda area and in the old house chamber. This statehouse was not used very long, but Lincoln was in here when he was alive. It was also the last place he lay in state before they closed the coffin and buried him and his son Willie in the Springfield cemetery. We enjoyed the Underground Railroad display and stories in the old Supreme Court Chambers. This place is kind of big and you can schedule at least an hour to see everything. As of June 2025 its open Thursday through Saturday.

Lincoln Depot - Springfield

Tanya Fook-Marshall: An excellent train station. We were able to meet the owner who was gracious. Abraham Lincoln made his farewell address here. The doppelganger of Abe also reiterated the address in period clothing. Afterwards we were able to take pictures with him. What a treat! My grandchildren really enjoyed the time spent in Springfield, so did I.

Dana-Thomas House State Historic Site - Springfield

Richard Torbett: If you enjoy Frank Loyd Wright architecture, this house is a must-see see! It is literally a museum of his furniture and art glass. Make a reservation for the guided tour. It is well worth your time. Photos are not allowed inside.

Lincoln Home National Historic Site Visitor Center - Springfield

Jason Neel: The Visitor Center at Lincoln’s Home is a great starting point for an unforgettable historical experience! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, providing detailed information about the site and what to expect on the tour. The exhibits inside were well-organized and packed with fascinating insights about Lincoln’s life and legacy. The short film shown before the tour was a great introduction, setting the stage for the visit to Lincoln’s actual home. Plus, the center had a nice selection of books and souvenirs for history lovers. Everything was clean, well-maintained, and easy to navigate. Overall, this is a must-stop before heading to Lincoln’s house. It made the whole experience even more educational and enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Jonathan Uehle: Southwind Park is a true gem in Springfield! The sprawling open areas are fantastic for everything from a leisurely stroll to a full-on game of frisbee. The park is impeccably clean and well-maintained, making for a really pleasant experience. The views surrounding the lake are simply beautiful – perfect for a peaceful moment or a scenic backdrop for a picnic. What really stands out is the thoughtful inclusion of kids activities, ensuring theres something fun for the whole family. Its a wonderful place to spend an afternoon and enjoy the outdoors. Highly recommended!

Edwards Place Historic Home - Springfield

Gary: Absolutely beautiful grounds and Victorian mansion and the art studio is amazing. We just happened upon this, not knowing it even exitsted. Its nice to see this incredible home kept up while so many are allowed to deteriorate. The grounds are well kept and the studio is very nice. Well worth checking out.
