1 /5 olga garcia: I’ve been with anytime fitness for about 5 years.
From Wheaton to Naperville, Naperville to Wheaton, Glendale height back to wheaton being my home gym once more due to Glendale heights abrupt closure.
This gym has been nothing but disappointed since it hasn’t had consistent management since David.
Previous to Glendale heights closing, my gym membership price had always been the same amount even as I have bounced around gyms.
About four months ago I walked back into the Wheaton location Andrea(new manager)greeted me to let me know that I had to switch my home location back to them as the other gym had closed. I signed as she had asked me to transfer my membership over to their location.
A couple of days later i get to the gym to my key Fab not working. The big guy don’t know if he’s just a fill in person, the owner tells me that the contract that I had previously signed was invalid and that my monthly rate had to go up since my rate wasn’t enough, to remain with Anytime he had to add a 10 dollar increase in order to remain with Anytime. I did voice that I have had the same rate since I started and it wasn’t a problem 3 months ago prior to the system changing my home location.
I felt blindside due to having a rough morning, hence why I was in the gym. I signed, worked out for 20 min, to leave even more stressed and frustrated. I went the next couple days to find no one in the office to try to cancel my membership.
When i finally sent a email I did get a response back from Andrea, she told me I would have to pay out the whole 1 year contract in order for me to terminate my contract. So I just took the L and kept moving forward with my membership(no choice)
Later, I did schedule a meeting with Andrea, we talked about my dissatisfaction with the maintenance, lack of consistent management, about my increase in price and having absolutely no amenities, beside being to occasionally use the Evolt machine to track my weight loss.
Today I walked into the gym, as a lady(assuming management)was there I asked to use the Evolt machine to track my weight. She says “yes, sure.. do you do personal training here?” To which I replied “no, I’ve never have.” I proceed to walk in the room to use the machine, take my shoes off, get on the scale to her coming in the room to asked me if I paid extra to use the Evolt machine, she said couldn’t use it to track my weight as I had to pay extra on my membership. I told her that I have used the machine several times, there and in the Naperville location thru out my years with anytime without management ever mentioning that I wasn’t able to use it with out a fee.
To the she replied “well, you must be getting the special treatment” all while trying to get my numbers for my weigh loss journey.
As a person who takes numbers private she made me feel super uncomfortable and my personal space invaded by a stranger whom I’ve never seen or meet in this gym before barging in the room, confronting me for using a machine I asked to used.
