Sauk Valley Community College - Dixon
Aaron Yocum: If youre a veteran, dont even waste your time with Sauk. They claim to be a "veteran friendly" institution but there is nothing that could be farther from the truth. All veterans are vastly better off going to Highland in Freeport where they take care of their veterans and the GI Bill process quickly and correctly. I wish someone would have warned me earlier before I wasted two semesters (which were paid out of pocket because they screwed up the GI Bill so badly so many times) trying to get anything accomplished there.
The McBride Agency - Dixon
Carmen Bollman: Patrick and his staff are professional and knowledgeable but the best part is that they are personable. We had some complicated insurance needs that he walked us through every step of the way. Apps are fine but having a real person you know you can call is the best and the rates were better than anything we found online trying to do it ourselves. A big thank you to the whole team!!!
Dixon Community Food Pantry - Dixon
geekgurl2000: Well, its never a good time when one has to visit pantries, but they had an orderly, efficient system and were able to provide items i can microwave heat. The staff were friendly and kind.

Valerie: Nurse Practitioner Marissa Frost is an amazing Nurse Practitioner. I call her Dr Frost because She basically is.She does everything my past Drs did, but she is more caring, and has great "bedside manners". She doesnt make you feel embarrassed when you have to talk about personal health problems. Anyone can learn whats in a book, but being a good Dr. Requires empathy, attention, thinking ahead, what prescription are covered by their patients insurance, sometimes trying different things, just so much , and shes never in a bad mood. If she was, youd never know it, because evidently she doesnt take her private feelings out on her patients. Shes very professional but yet very friendly. Shes very thorough, and she listens to what you are comfortable with. She has to make a lot of health decisions on a daily basis, and so far everything shes ever prescribed for me has given me a speedy cure, and I am very grateful to have Marissa Frost as my Nurse Practitioner, and if she wants to be a Dr. she will be, and a great one, at that.

OSF Saint Katharine Medical Center - Dixon
Chris McCanse: I went to the emergency room twice in the last week for extreme shortness of breath. The first time the doctor wanted to admit me but because of a very bad experience in another hospital I was to scared to stay. The doctor and I talked about it and he was understanding so I cant say anything bad about that night. The second time the emergency staff was fantastic. They were concerned, helpful, friendly and informative. But after being in there for 6 hours were still unable to figure out whats going on. So the nurse talked me into being admitted for further testing and treatment. After going upstairs and meeting the doctor I strongly regretted my decision to stay. She was not going to do any more testing and was just going to keep me for light observation. I wasnt going to be hooked up to any monitors or anything and the only treatment she ordered was for me to take the same meds as I do at home. The lady from registration said that because of only being for light observation insure may not cover as much. Im on disability and on a fairly tight budget so another big made me nervous. I talked to the to the doctor about it and she said I should stay. I told her since the only thing they were going to do i can do at home and the money issue just just kept telling me to stay. I then told her Im not going t9 stay and am willing to sign a AMA and then she told me if I leave and start to feel worse not to come back to that hospital because I will be refused treatment because I left AMA. I told her she can count on that because I didnt want to be treated by someone like her. She has no business around people much less as a doctor.
