Brick Yard Gym - Chicago
Cora Andrada: Brick Yard Gym is the real deal. Open 24/7, so I can hit it anytime. The equipment is top-notch—perfect for powerlifting and strength training. The place is always clean, and the owners are super chill and welcoming. No frills, just straight-up serious workouts. Dropped $50 for a week pass, and it was worth every penny. If youre serious about lifting, this spots a hidden gem.
Logan Square Gym - Chicago
plig bebbles: Friendly staff, and for the most part, respectful and mindful members. My main complaint is with the equipment and machines, many of which regularly go out of order and continue to have the same problems even after being fixed. The worst offender is the leg extension machine. The seat cant even be adjusted, even when it is "working" and heavier weights stop being smooth. It really just needs to be replaced. Other issues: some resistance machines and cables get janky at random weights. For example, the assisted pull up machine. If you set it between 88 to 99 lbs resistance, after a few reps the weight will suddenly feel much heavier and lose its smoothness. On top of that, some of the cables supporting the free motion cable machines are punctured, which makes most exercises on them awkward and uncomfortable. I appreciate the gym for what it is and where it is located, and I dont mind paying for the convenience. I just wish the equipment was better maintained for the price Im paying. The lack of upkeep is disappointing. EDIT: Since I left this review theyve changed every machine Ive commented on and seem to be continually bringing in updated equipment. Really appreciate this, it has made for a much better and more valuable experience. Thanks!!
Anytime Fitness - Chicago
Waleed Asif: 2 stars because the place is clean, but that’s where the positives end. I’ve never been to a gym where the fans are cranked up to full blast, directly over the machines, blowing at your head like you’re in a wind tunnel. It’s not just uncomfortable—it’s actually harmful, especially during a workout when your body is heating up and you’re breathing heavy. Fast, cold air blasting your head like that can cause tension headaches, dizziness, and even mess with your breathing. There’s zero thought for member comfort or safety. Worse, there’s no way to contact anyone. The number goes straight to voicemail, nobody calls back, and there’s never a staff member around to talk to. How are members supposed to voice concerns? Basic customer service is nonexistent. Clean or not, if you ignore member safety and communication, that’s a major red flag. Lower the fan speed, reposition them away from directly over the machines, and maybe have someone actually answer the phone.
Body High Fitness - Chicago
Bronte Beaman: I absolutely love working out at Body High Fitness! The instructors are all so sweet and really do care that youre seeing results. Theyre also always happy to show you modifications for any move due to injuries or pregnancy. Ive been going for the past year and the workouts never fail to make me sore the next day. I enthusiastically recommend Body High to any friend in the area.

Endeavor Health Fitness & Wellness Center – Galter Life Center - Chicago
Gustav Paulet: Joined this gym a week ago and already having a bad experience. This review is being made on Tuesday, November 4 at 9:29PM. I noticed the dark skinned heavy set woman at the front desk reception area on the left side as soon as you enter the gymnasium was saying goodbye and hi to every white member but ignored me when I said hi and when I said goodbye. She lacks professionalism. Yet the person in front of me got a goodbye and the person behind me also got a goodbye. I noticed everyone else got a goodbye or have a good one except me and what a coincidence that I was only Latino. Seems bizarre for her to be racist. Didn’t pay $75 joining fee and a month in advance to be treated differently. I am always polite and expect the same. Other than the rude woman at the front desk from tonight (Tuesday, November 4th) the gym is okay. The pool is not deep enough and the free weights could use more benches (only has one flare bench). The treadmills are decent but there are a few that skip. Hours could also be better on the weekends. Atleast till 9:30 everyday would be solid. Only reason I joined is because I live three blocks from here and the gym is not crowded like LA Fitness. Not bad but definitely not great
Lakeshore Sport & Fitness - Chicago
Garland Jackie Acker (Chicago Photo Mom): I just finished my two week trial membership and heres what I like about my individual plus kids membership: *FREE 2 hour childcare *Variety of classes - Pilates Mat with Zineb and Fuerzo Kickboxing with Marcelo have been my favorites! *Special programming! Kids are in a free weekly dance class and they had a reptile show where we could touch the animals. Negatives: *Parking is a challenge despite them having two parking lots. I had to park on Fullerton this morning around 9AM. *Family pool access is limited on weekends as 3/4 of pool is used for lessons in the morning. Definitely worth the investment for the childcare alone!
