1 /5 Melanie VanOverloop: I was an unlimited class member here for over 2 years. The gym continually cut classes in place of offering services where you had to pay more money to participate, thereby decreasing the value of the unlimited class membership. When I tried to freeze my account due to an injury and subsequent surgery, my request was ignored. When I tried to cancel my membership, they made it as difficult as possible, requiring an in-person cancellation. The owner Alicia is awful, disrespectful and only cares about money. Do not be deceived by her claims to wanting to help women - she just wants to help her pocketbook.
Edited to add: Over my over two years at the gym, they cancelled the 4:30pm and most of the 6:15pm class options - making it nearly impossible for a full time working mom to attend regularly. I would have never joined if these options had not been available. Ironically, they claim to want to support working moms. While cutting these classes for the unlimited members, they added "private personal training" clients and specialty classes at the same time - all to make more money. And no, my unlimited membership cost did not go down, despite being offered less.
Additionally, they have a strict cancellation policy, wherein you are charged for a "late cancellation" within 6 hours of a class. This is also difficult for working moms who constantly have changes to their schedules. They claim this is to ensure there is enough room for those that want to attend, but the classes are never full. The cancellation policy is just another way to get into your wallet.
The contract with Delta Life Fitness is full of hidden fees, including if you want to utilize the "free" child care and a mandatory heart rate monitor that must be purchased to participate. There is a reason they do not post their costs online where they would be easily accessible to the public.
Once you are a member, they will send you spam text messages about programs that cost more money or about attendance. I blocked their number as spam in my phone, due to the unrelenting text messages. They also send you spam emails, while still hiding the ball on the actual email address for the business. I used three different email addresses before I got one that actually worked and they claimed that the email address had been recently updated, for a third time.
All in all, this gym is like the MLM scheme of gyms, preying on stay at home moms and women. Run, do not walk, as fast as you can away from this gym.
