Anytime Fitness - Chicago
Anytime Fitness
Sophie Mason: Great gym with an awesome community vibe! The space is always clean, well-organized, and never too crowded, even during busy hours. The equipment is modern and well-maintained, with everything you need for strength training, cardio, and functional workouts. The staff and trainers are incredibly welcoming and truly care about members’ progress. They’re always happy to offer tips, help with form, or create a plan to help you stay consistent and motivated. You can feel the positive energy the moment you walk in.
Southport Fitness - Chicago
Marta Aguilar: I love Southport Fitness! The gym is always clean, has great equipment, and never feels too crowded. It’s easy to get in, get your workout done, and feel good. The people are friendly, and the vibe is chill and welcoming. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a solid local gym!

Seyi O: I joined anytime fitness a few weeks ago and love it. It’s not a fancy gym, but it’s quiet and everyone is respectful.
Planet Fitness - Chicago
Grace Kim: I like it! Clean, spacious, and takes up the whole corner with ample amount of natural light which I think is the highlight of this gym. All the equipments are facing the window too so it has a nice view, especially with the Harold Washington Library. The TVs are nice, lockers are clean too. The hours were tricky but they have them on the door (took a photo!). Pretty convenient location, easily accessible via CTA/ bus, and some street parking available too. Definitely should check it out!
GND Strength Society - Chicago
Geto Getov: Wonderful gym and great staff! They have everything you need for a strength training. They also have a weekly pass which makes it perfect for people who are visiting Chicago.
Chicago Fitness Center - Chicago
Brian Gentzle: The best gym I’ve ever been to. Wish they had a place in the burbs.
Fit at the W Chicago - Lakeshore - Chicago
Michael James: Used to be 5 star. My fiance and I came here a lot. The service, food and ice machines are lacking. 3 floors either way from our room have disassembled ice machines. The room service is nothing like it was before. The property is just generally dilapidated. Its actually pretty sad that Chicago is losing another (what used to be) world class hotel.
Fitness Chicago - Bedford Park
Sandy D: Im deeply disheartened by my experience here. I didnt deserve to be treated with such disregard, especially after bringing forward a legitimate bullying concern involving my child at this establishment. I expected more from a space that presents itself as a community resource. When I raised the issue to the coach, I wasnt taken seriously, a response all too familiar to women who advocate and speak up. I had to push just to be heard and instead of accountability, I was met with personal attacks. Thats not leadership. Thats deflection and discrimination. If youre going to run a boxing program, especially one involving kids, you need to be available to the families who trust you. But the coach was consistently hard to reach, showed up at the last minute, and his body language felt disengaged and detached. The events leading up to our departure made it clear the coach was retaliating through my child. That behavior isnt just unprofessional; its cowardly. This space does not welcome honest communication; it punishes it. In a time when our Latino communities are already carrying so much, we cant afford to normalize this behavior. Our families deserve safe, accountable spaces that uplift, not diminish us.
River West Fitness - Chicago
L. Silva: Quality instructors who have so much experience. If you are looking for Pilates reformer or gyro-tonic machine or private red cord, strength training or private Pilates lessons, this is the place to go. Every trainer has over 10-20 years experience. Thoughtful and intelligent
LA Fitness - Chicago
LA Fitness
Matt Soper: The lights turned off 10 minutes before the gym closed in the locker room and we couldnt see our stuff to finish packing. The young guy at the front said the lights are automatic and its "the policy" to be out of the gym 10 minutes before it closes, which I couldnt find such a policy in the terms and the site says it closes at 9p. They need to train managers to be reasonable when a member has an issue with the lights being turned off when I left at 855p. I wasnt even late getting out but this kid apparently thought he could just make up policies instead of being respectful.
