We had a rough idea of what we wanted, and they knew exactly how to go above and beyond to make it a reality without compromise. I was somewhat worried about the timeline, but they made it happen weeks ahead of schedule. I would recommend anyone looking for a custom engagement ring (or a high quality, pre-designed ring) to schedule a visit with this place!

5 /5 Shanti Okawa: Everything about our experience working with Mineralogy was a dream come true! My fiancé and I were looking for a jeweler to repurpose some family pieces into a custom engagement ring, and found Mineralogys beautiful custom work. After looking into their studio more, their values and ethical practices, we knew we definitely wanted to work with Theresa and her team. Their custom process is so clear and well defined-- even though we are from out-of-state, Theresa was so great with communication leading up to our consultation-- reviewing inspiration, clarifying any questions, and helping us through shipment of our heirloom pieces. We traveled to Chicago for our consultation, and were greeted with the most stunning array of gemstones to choose from that the team had curated specifically for us. We absolutely loved the interactive custom process and being so intimately involved in each design decision. Theresa was so helpful in guiding the consult-- making sure all of our heirloom stones were in a placement that would be safe and secure in the setting and also balanced the different center stones we were considering. The team also did a wonderful job helping us remain within our set budget during our consult, and never pushing to upsell us on features or stones which we really appreciated. One part of this process we were unsure of was how much of our original heirlooms would survive-- and we were stunned by the amount of care shown by Theresa and her team to carefully remove stones and return the original settings to us in near perfect condition. We just received our custom ring last week and the end result was more than we ever dreamed of! It feels like us in every way and is such a meaningful way to include our family history as well. We are so grateful to the Mineralogy team for helping us to create a very special heirloom of our own, and looking forward to working with them again in the future!

Sophia Loris: Brilliant Earth sold my husband a wedding ring that was either broken upon arrival or had poor enough craftmanship that it broke within a month of our wedding. This followed an arduous process where the ring was remade twice and still did not fit. When asked for a resizing, they had the gall to request 600 dollars. Finally, to avoid the astronomical charges, we went to a local jeweler who informed us that the inlay gemstone was CRACKED down the middle! (Was it cracked during the constant and unsuccessful process of remaking it? I wonder.) They did offer to remake the ring for us, but we do not want to replace the ring which was an important part of our wedding less than a month ago for an exorbitant price. They did not offer either a repair or reimbursement for taking the ring to a qualified jeweler for repairs. Additionally, customer service was wonderful. Our saleswoman, Victoria, was clearly knowledgeable and eager to help us, but was just as clearly hamstrung by Brilliant Earths corporate process. Brilliant Earth specializes in wedding and engagement rings and the importance and sentimentality of such a purchase is in no way honored by their horrible quality assurance. To be blunt, it feels like their business model is to take advantage of the fact that these are one-time purchases, and that they do not have to be concerned about repeat customers. I truly hope that one day, leadership at this company can understand the pain they inflict on couples during an important moment in their lives.

Today I brought the ring in and was instantly reassured by Ella and Sammi. They asked the right questions, listened to me reminisce a bit, and called me back within 2 hours as promised. I got a reasonable estimate for replacing the missing stone, as well as retipping the prongs that needed retipping. (Not all of them need it.) I appreciated everything about the honest and genuine service I received today. I look forward to wearing my favorite piece of jewelry again within the next 7-10 days.
