Taylor J Your search for a church home in Chicago is over!!! I recently moved here last summer and was invited to this church by my cousin. After I attended one service, I felt like I was at home and I heard my spirit telling me “this is where you belong”. I was previously used to going to churches where no one knew my name, but with Renewal that’s not the case. After only a few months, I’ve built a community of friends by attending the church services and participating in small groups. Being a member of Renewal is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made since moving here and I’m proud to call Renewal my church home.

Emmanuel Leonard What a really nice church! I was in the city with my brother celebrating his and my sister birthday. After brunch, I was going to drop him off at his church then go home. I decided to walk in with him to check it out. I wasn’t planning on staying but the worship, the sermon, and atmosphere really kept me interested. It was a very diverse crowd (a big PLUS) and very hipster. The people were chill. I would go again.

M K I had the opportunity to visit this church several times during my brief stay in Chicago. The sermons were concise, practical, and helpful for daily application. For instance, one pastor explained that we don’t need to ‘progress’ unsound thoughts that spontaneously ‘arise’, using the analogy that we don’t have to eat everything offered at a potluck. Another pastor encouraged starting each day by thinking about God for one minute as a way to form a habit of prioritizing Him over temporal concerns, gradually increasing the time over days. These practical tips have helped me reflect on and purify my thoughts. The pastors consistently put effort into offering actionable ways to integrate Biblical teachings into daily life. I hope these messages help others as much as they’ve helped me.

Sarah Doyel Stadtherr We were so glad to make a visit to this vibrant Parish. A gentleman showed us where the elevator was and made sure we got to the sanctuary. (He also wished us goodbye.) The sanctuary was truly beautiful and I needed more time to visit but we had to get to Union station. You can tell the health of a church by the size of the childrens group, this one is thriving. Music was a mix of traditional and contemporary and I was told they even have pros in the choir. DO go visit them!

Tim Moore Visited from out of state. We were greeted upon arrival and they even asked us to take up the gifts. The inside is beautiful. This place had the best Cantor I have ever heard. He was absolutely amazing. When the service was over we attended a "tour" which was a member telling us the history of he church. She even pointed out the chair at the altar John Paul II sat in while Pavarotti sang Ave Maria at the back of the church. The place was absolutely stunning. We felt welcomed here.

Josh Wolfrum Over the past year, I’ve felt God opening my eyes and heart and opening doors for me to explore my faith. I found Trinity Church in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago through a Google search. I knew I wanted a nondenominational church that focused on biblically accurate teaching. As I had not been in a church in the 27 years since leaving the Catholic church I grew up in, I was a little intimidated by the idea of walking into a completely new place where I didn’t know anyone. For the first few months I would attend by joining the online livestreams. I enjoyed pastor Matt’s heartfelt, inspirational, and motivating sermons. I was encouraged to join a small group, which seems odd considering I still had not attended church in person. On the first day of that small group, I was warmly welcomed by pastor Matt and his family. I was immediately put at ease, and I found everyone there to be so warm, friendly, and passionate about Jesus. I committed to attending the following Sunday in person at the church. I don’t know why I waited so long. Everyone was beyond friendly, helpful, and genuinely interested in getting to know me and help me get back on track with following Jesus. I was eventually baptized at Trinity Church on Easter Sunday, which I think was very special that it ocurred on that day. I also completed the church’s Growth Track to become an official member of the church. I’ve continued to attend Sundays and small groups each semester. I have learned from and shared with so many amazing people here. The worship is incredible as well. There is so much energy in the room, which didn’t happen at the church I grew up in. There are a number of regular events the church hosts for you to be a part of the community - from volunteering to hot dog fundraisers to men’s and women’s retreats. Plenty of opportunities to fellowship with other believers. Jesus, through using Trinity Church, has changed my life in so many positive ways. I really do love this place.

Grant Yoder Like most people, I found Trinity Church Chicago by doing an online search. I thought I would finally leave my own review after 7 years. Overall, if you’re looking for a true, Jesus-seeking, Bible-teaching, non-denominational church in Chicago, I highly recommend checking out Trinity Church. No church is perfect, but Trinity seeks to follow Jesus unapologetically. It’s a church to call home, a church that will challenge you to grow, a church that is a deeper community, and a church that wants to welcome all but challenge everyone to live like Jesus. If you’re looking for a church environment where you can slip in and slip out unnoticed every week, you won’t find that at Trinity. You can maybe manage that for a few weeks if you purposefully avoid eye contact with people, but eventually someone will get your attention and want to welcome you into conversation. Give in! You will love the community here. I still remember the first person I met when I walked in the door 7 years ago. (Thanks, Dom!) Also, I met my wife at Trinity, got married at Trinity, experienced many of life’s ups and downs with the community here, and I made many lifelong friends at Trinity. I’m so glad I found this church. Please visit in person if you’re interested in finding a Chicago church! Trinity is also a charismatic church, if that is something that you’re looking for. If you’re not sure what that means exactly in the church context, don’t let that keep you away, just ask the pastor or one of the church members and they’d be happy to explain what they mean by charismatic.

Kevin Holy Family Catholic Church, an important Chicago landmark. Religious, architectural, cultural and historic. This is Chicagos second oldest extant house of faith. Surviving the dreadful Chicago Fire! This beautiful edifice was completed in 1860. So beautiful inside. It feels like a Chicago time machine when you walk in the doors to see the carved statues, gorgeous organ and detailed huge stained glass windows! Architect John Van Osdel was responsible for its design. My Irish immigrant great-grand parents were married here, as were hundreds of others. This building... this church is truly quite a treasure, and its importance in the role it played in Chicagos history and culture cannot be over stated. Currently this churches future is uncertain. With a diminished parish, rising maintenance costs, semi-closing and the merging/folding of the parish into Notre Dame de Chicago - warning signs have emerged...again. The first time I photographed inside Holy Family church Father George Lane explained to me that the church was in the midst of a dire situation. The photos I took then could have been the last documentation of the building. That was summer of 1990. A prayed for and fortunate outcome materialized and Holy Family was saved from a demise. Ive photographed the interior a number of times since then. But today, I just dont know..... So I am writing this to hopefully encourage people to consider what it means to preserve a building in Chicago with a deep, rich, architectural, cultural and "faithful" historic foundation in the city. I know this church has a few more generations of service and stories yet in it.

Nep Garcia May this serve to you as a warning ‼️ You have to be careful with a church that looks more like a club than a church, and when the dress code is inappropriate for both, men and women, specially the leaders. Or when the supposed pastor starts dancing to the rhythm of MC Hammer at the pulpit. They say is for attracting more people into church… but you gotta ask this question, since when the preaching of the Word and the worshiping of God has to accommodate your lifestyle? Seriously, think about it!

Thomas Weru This is my favourite Catholic Church…in the world…for a combination of reasons. The main one is perpetual adoration that’s actually open and accessible 24/7. I’m yet to find another church anyway that offers this (which is understandable). The Mass is said reverently and, with great care and silence. This is pretty rare in The West where there’s always a fury of activity and chatter before, during and after Mass. And of course to top it all up it’s an absolutely beautiful church! Then I also noticed there’s confession before Mass (not sure if this is a daily occurrence but still). Overall, the great silence, beauty, reverence and great care makes for a great place for prayer…WHICH IS THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE CHURCH!
