4 /5 Ten Poshard: This Broomtown Cafe was like a Hallmark movie! Cute little Mennonite ladies making simple breakfast and lunch items. The thin pressed sourdough toast was fun but they did use cost cutter canola oil spread as the butter instead of a homemade butter that artisanal bread demands. The bacon was great and reminded me of my great grandmother’s. Sitting there I see an adorable man who appeared to be journaling or something academic on the second floor. But almost immediately the most attractive man in a blue Patagonia puffer and perfectly sized work boots pops out of nowhere. Clearly the hero of my brunch. As he walked out a construction worker covered a mud came in. And it occurred to me… it’s a Lifetime movie set waiting to happen. Except for my son always there to bring me back to reality. Try the hippie iced tea half sweet and the scones. Their baker comes three times a week and deserves a nod of their own. Oddly enough, this cafe is across from the Broom Palace (still confused a bit) and a bakery with a name you can’t pronounce and hours that assure you won’t get in! One part Wholesome Holiday Town… One part Stephen King. I wanna spend a month there!
