5 /5 Alan Camerer: The gem of Elsah, Illinois! Hidden away on the hill on a side street, the restaurant (I hear) gets its name from a previous location. The interior is warm and welcoming with several smaller rooms to break up the too crowded feeling, which is good since they are usually busy and reservations are recommended. However, we were a group of 4 on a Saturday at 12:30 and were able to get a table with no wait.
The Adult grilled cheese was pleasantly different. The accompnying arugula salad was well prepared. Mom said the chili was very good.
Noise level was a little echoey but most guests were talking quietly. We were the loudest there. Sorry bout that!
Parking is free on the street and might be tricky if theres a crowd. We had no problem. Waze said to turn left on a one way street off the main road into town, but just go a block further and take the next left and turn left again at the next street. The restaurant is on the left.
Service and wait time were very good. Pay at the table to your server with a mobile card reader. Very convenient!
Thanks to staff and owners for the great experience!
