06-2025 Bian Park in Hight rate 15 location for tourist in Champaign, IL, USA (part 2)Ambucs Park - C R: Review written 12/27/2024. Nice park to walk or park your car and relax etc. Usually has a portapotty open in winter when the facility bathrooms close for winter.
Has accessible playground area for people with physical disabilities.
Has some covered areas with picnic tables
Has a bridge to walk over and some benches and playground equipment
Downsides are it’s right next to the like sewage or wastewater or something treatment plant and sometimes the park smells bad.
Also a downside is that sometimes depending on the weather and wind conditions, you can hear some kind of shooting training going on maybe from the Champaign county jail area nearby. It’s not very pleasant to go to a park and hear tons of gunshots off in the distance and I wish these practice times would be broadcast more to the public as to not startle people with PTSD etc. Maybe they are broadcast on police social media pages or something idk but it can definitely be startling.
Also a downside is that some of the areas you can drive turn into gravel and become super muddy and have some deep dangerous potholes and end in a dead end but there’s no warning signs about how it’s a dead end so if you drive that way to try to see more areas of the park, you may have to back out
Noel Park - Champaign Nicholas Gibson: Small park, but lots of space to run. Small backstopping for baseball, 2 soccer nets, Small jungle gym, and a paved path around the whole thing.
3 poke stops and a gym for you pogo players, 2 flowers and a mushroom site for you pikmin bloom players.
Toalson Park - Champaign Lewis Clements: Beautiful park surrounded by beautiful people! My kids dont play with other kids unless they have great energy and about 4 or 5 kids rolled up from the surrounding burbs and had a great time! The communication between them was amazing. Those parents around there are doing an absolute great job! Thank you for welcoming us on our journey!
Larry Kanfer Photography - Champaign Irene Farha: Larry is very kind and knowledgeable about his photography. I went to his gallery to purchase a book for a relative out of state and we chatted for awhile. I absolutely love the photos of the Illinois scenery and thought the book would be a great addition to our relatives coffee table! Thank you much and keep up the great work with your ever changing photos!
Bristol Park - Champaign Daniel Rodriguez: I have mixed feelings about this space as others have shared. The place is beautiful with the nature setting, new children playground equipment, and an exercise area for adults, good place for short walks.
HOWEVER, the place is not maintained clean by its community members. There was a lot of trash of kids snacks in the playground. Other trash on the sidewalks, even through there’s many trash cans. So, that created a “ghetto” feel to it, but we still enjoyed it.
Sunset Ridge Park - Champaign Mohammad Mohammad: This is nice quite park West of Champaign. There is nothing on the west side so it has all clear sky and good spot for star watchers. It has basketball court and tennis courts.
South Quad - Will Giblin: This is a very nice spot to sit in relax. During the summer months I like to come here with a camping chair and sit out with my friends. I usually bring a frisbee out so we can through it around. This a place that is usually a bit less crowded than the main quad if you want to come out here to study. People do play loud music sometimes so do be warned.
Morrow Plots - Urbana Ian Brown: As far as plots go, Id give this one a 3 out of 5. The corn was ok, but overall Id like to see it do something special, like carnivorously attacking random passerby. When I walk by plots like this, I want to feel some sort of emotion, such as fear of my impending demise, but when I walk by these plots, I feel nothing.
