5 /5 Renee: This place will always be one of my favorites, from the gorgeous trails, access to the river, plenty of picnicking spots, and room for your furry friends to roam. There’s also some nice pavilions to have celebrations or cookouts, plenty of creatures and plants to teach kids about nature, and the easiest part is it’s still in the city! This place and Sylvan Island are my go-to spots when I want to take a walk with my friends, and I enjoy the size of the park and kindness of its many patrons. It’s hard to get out in nature these days but this place makes it accessible for most everyone

5 /5 Lisa Kinney: Great place to hike, explore or just take a relaxing break. We went this last time in the fall when the foliage was just stunning. Also some great historical landmarks of Native American and Illinois history.

5 /5 Suzanne Short: We walked across the sky bridge... played at every park area... ventured to the trails and it was outstanding. They have trails attached to more trails a person could get lost. They do have a map at the entrance... take a picture of it...I may or may not have gotten lost! It was bliss!

I can tell there are barge loads of effort that goes into keeping this Park as beautiful, as well as Grandeur that it has become. I feel total peace, freedom as well as free education, every single visit that I make to this location. She helped me save the day with my wedding and had a list of vendors for me once I picked to go with her. She was great at communication and had great items for rent to use for your wedding. Atomic Cannon -

Victoria1775: This is a military base so you have to register at the MP check in building, I didnt know that but it didnt take long to do & honestly they cant just let anyone just drive in so I understand that. We stopped at the Atomic Cannon & the other artillery pieces. I was so excited to stand by a Sherman Tank there of the 4th division in the Battle of the Bulge the very same tank, division & battle my grandpa was in, when I was little I remember him telling me stories of how driving a tank was easier than driving a car & of his first tank being hit & destroyed he & his company made it out alive,they were assigned to a new tank, he was only 18 years old then

Black Hawk Forest -

Jenny VanDeWalker: Beautiful place to go hiking. We had a picnic on Mothers day and we chose the lower picnic area. The tables werent in the best shape. The only one available was broken in several spots. But the view was nice.

Saline County Area Museum (Saline Creek Pioneer Village and Museum) - Harrisburg

Lincoln Memorial Garden and Nature Center - Springfield

Susie Dalton: Beautiful setting right off Springfield Lake. Plenty of trail under dappled sunshine.. we saw Carp spawning in the grassy part of the lake. Also enjoyed watching a deer, eating tree leaves and grasses. There were also squirrels. Huge trees lined the pathway. One tree was estimated to be there since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Alas three is dead but still standing, towering over the younger trees. Can you imagine all the stories the old timer could tell?
