1 /5 Antonio Martinez: Having parents pay is just highway robbery. Especially when it comes to having multiple children. Place is small and outdated, I think the entrance fee should reflect the quality of this play area.

1 /5 Amy: Very disappointed in the way staff and management handled my situation. Only after paying did I find out that many of the exhibits (including the main huge castle) were either under construction or completely gone, but then when I told them that’s what we came for, they refused to do anything regarding any kind of refund or even just a pass to come back another time when things are back up. We’re usually there for hours but this time we tried to be there as long as possible which was only 30-40 min. Cost about $40. Kids were bored and wanted to leave. Not worth it.

1 /5 Bethany: Um. Where do I start? They took the castle out to add a weird room with a library. The area has so many local libraries that are free. My daughter cried about the castle. Rightfully so. That castle was awesome. Change could’ve been made anywhere else. Every time I’ve been here the last 5 years they’ve removed more cool things and added nothing interesting. :/ this place was my childhood. Sad to see it in this state.

3 /5 Vijion 2020: Not for kids over 8. I went with (3) boys...2, 4 and 10. Several areas were shut down or limited access. Water feature closed Flight simulator open, but not working Illumination area closed Plus one other area I cant remember was closed I just felt that maintenance was pour and the upkeep was lacking. I felt uninspired. So much potential, just need to tighten up the ship and keep things functional and you open up this place for kids 2-12. But right now its not great, just ok.

5 /5 Andrew schultz: Large open spaces for the little ones to crawl around, I am a bit disappointed they took out the castle from when I was a young lad, but their peter pan exhibit looks promising. The front staff was nice, and other than that small interaction, my child and I had literally a whole open room to ourselves for play time.

Richard Young Forest Preserve - Yorkville

Deanne Curcio: We went on a Sunday fall day. There were a few cars but it was not overly busy. We took the West Trail/Fen/Van Emmon trail first. This is past the shelter and fire pit. There was some open prairie at the beginning but for the most part, the trails are in the woods. We enjoyed the varied terrain, elevation changes, wooden stairs, overlooks and bridges. We walked the entire Western trail until we got to Van Emmon road where Richard Young FP links up with Lyons FP. We then took the East trail back to Rt 71/Richard Young trailhead. It was fun to explore the creek that runs through it. Lots of woodpeckers and interesting fungus as well. We walked around 2.4 miles and did most of the trails other than the prairie loop off the East trail. I would definitely recommend checking it out. There are not mile after mile of trails but the trails are very pretty and for a half day of exploration it’s a good choice!

Silver Springs State Fish and Wildlife Area - Yorkville

Lucy Rechsteiner: Trail system is clearly marked and maintained. Lots of people fishing and plenty of parking! Can’t wait to see it when there’s more color on the trees. Great place to bring our baby son for his first hike!

T.J. Keenan: A nice riverside park right on the outskirts of town. For kayakers, there is a put in spot right near the left channel, which looks to be a class I-II whitewater channel with safe and easy exit points at the end. Theres a walking trail with a bridge that overlooks the rapids. There is plenty of public parking right alongside the river.

Hannah Graham: A beautiful riverfront on which to walk and enjoy nature. The bridge going over the river that lets you walk on the little island path is very very cool. Get some ice cream at Foxys and take a stroll with your friends and family

toni levy: We attended a very special fundraiser for Sheepdog rescue her. They were so very accommodating and the buildings and grounds were wonderful. Hope to go back just to see more of the museum items when I can.

Igor: Infrastructure is OK. But they wants to make money on everything, what in my opinion is not fair. You will pay for the entrance tickets, and for parking separately. With all the above they will let you in empty handed. You will not allowed to bring inside your healthy food like cheese and vegetables. You have to buy their "junk" food inside. Technically you can go to your car and eat your food outside, but normally people do not do that. Because you have to travel huge distance to the parking lot just to get a bite of snack. "Clear bags" policy is stupid and have nothing to do with safety. They checking bags completely anyway. You will send back to the car with your belongings if you have standard beach bag with your towels. How many people do you think who visit this place for the first time know that they not allowed inside with regular bags? I was carry my towel like an idiot in my hands all the time, because i do not have clear bag with me and I didnt know about this policy before I came to this place. If you have a choice, better pick another place for the fun. It is so many waterparks around with much friendly policies to the guests.

Rachel McNamee: This park is perfect for toddlers has baby swings and small equipment older kids may enjoy the sandpit but could get bored fast.

K B: Decent little park with a soccer field nearby and some benches for a picnic. My daughters had fun as we were playing tag. My older daughter wanted you to know, though that there was no nine tails :-).
