Lincoln Marsh - Wheaton
Lincoln Marsh
Dr. Ravikiran Barigala: Hidden gem of marsh land in Wheaton. Great learning experience for kids if you go on the guided tours. It made me realize the importance of saving these precious lands from development. Its so important to prevent flooding, clean toxic waste, and regenerate ground water. There is a nice walking area around the lakes. There are some obstacle courses and even a 50 ft tall wall climbing course available only by prior appointment. There is also a fire pit but allowed only by supervision. The parking lot can have 20 cars at a time. There are 2 potable potties by the parking lot.

Akshay Sethia: If you love trains, you cannot miss this place. Never have I seen such a beautiful reproduction of not only a train track but an entire city. The trains operate on 3rd and 5th Saturdays, but nonetheless a beautiful place to visit any day, especially if you have kids or you have an active kid inside the adult body who cannot resist trains.
Wheaton Windmill - Wheaton
Syed Badrudduja: Recently had one of the greatest opportunities to visit this iconic windmill in Wheaton, Illinois. it has been a dream to visit this landmark. 10 out of 10 would go again just for the windmill. Make sure to go between the hours of 12 to 3. It was not busy and I had a front row seat to bask in its glory. It is a challenge to park there so I hope they add more spots later.
Herrick Lake Forest Preserve - Wheaton
Herrick Lake Forest Preserve
Jeremy Davis: Beautiful Lake and Forest Preserve with miles of well-maintained trails. Trails are wide and in great shape, and accessible to all activity levels. The trail around Herrick Lake offers beautiful views. Theres over 8 miles of trails available with a good amount without shade, so I recommend coming prepared on a warm day. Note: The Meadowlark Trail was closed as of 3/14/25.

Northside Park
Douglas Wiegmann: My son brought his family into town so we could meet his new daughter, my 3nd granddaughter. We hoped for a pleasant day so we could go to Northside Park and have a family outing. There were clouds, but they just made a more shady day. We found tables close together that fit our needs. Had a great meal then the kids went off to the playground. It was a great day. The park is close to my daughters house and she loves to bring her daughters here.
First Division Museum at Cantigny - Wheaton
First Division Museum at Cantigny
Maureen K. Flavin: I took some out of town guest to explore Cantigny. The museum and tanks are always a highlight. Whatever your age, there is something for you. Our tour guide was fantastic and at the end, he told us he had served in Vietnam. It was impactful to have served and proudly describe the 1st Division’s impact around the world. The Cantigny gardens and Colonel McCormick’s home were also amazing.
