5 /5 Robert Lamb: Nice 30 x 30 room with tables and chairs for up to 60 people. We had our granddaughters Bridal shower there. Ample parking in a nice setting. Price $150, for Kankakee residents was reasonable and a little more for non residents. Rent is for the whole day 9:00am to Midnight. No smoking but alcohol is allowed with extra insurance costs. Could use more electrical outlets and one of the tables was busted when we were there. Advice: Take pictures of everything before and after you leave for documentation to ensure youll get your $450 deposit back without any trouble.

1 /5 Donald Overacker: The Bird Park area is nice THE BATHROOMS NEED TO BE CLOSED UP THEY are DISGUSTING. THE TOILETS ARE OVERFLOWING. Come on Kankakee get your act together its just the start of summer

5 /5 Ronald Davis: I enjoy taking my niece and nephew here along with my young cousins. Its close to the river, so be careful. They also have a fishing area as well that I fish in from time to time.

Tj Joubert: My wife and I got married here almost a year ago now, and thinking back to the day still puts a smile on my face. Partially for the obvious, but a lot of it has to do with this location. Its a great spot, and Steve was very helpful leading up to and just great company the night of. Ive recommended this spot to friends a few times already, and will continue to do so. Couldnt have been happier, couldnt have picked a better spot for what we were trying to do.

steve wunder: A Wonderful day to listen to the Beautiful Sounds of the Brass Quintet! Large Oak shade trees and gentle cooling breezes off of the river made for a social gathering that was perfect. Available Ice cream and taco vendors as well.

June Hepp: This could be Kankakee’s pride n joy, but it’s not cared for very well. Memorial Day weekend one would think the grounds would be top notch but unfortunately it didn’t appear to have been mowed in some time. And trimming is nonexistent, how am I to relax on a bench when the weeds n grass are growing up through them or the paint is so chipped I could get a sliver? Money was spent on the bike patch n stopped with that. Such a shame.

Richard Young Forest Preserve - Yorkville

Deanne Curcio: We went on a Sunday fall day. There were a few cars but it was not overly busy. We took the West Trail/Fen/Van Emmon trail first. This is past the shelter and fire pit. There was some open prairie at the beginning but for the most part, the trails are in the woods. We enjoyed the varied terrain, elevation changes, wooden stairs, overlooks and bridges. We walked the entire Western trail until we got to Van Emmon road where Richard Young FP links up with Lyons FP. We then took the East trail back to Rt 71/Richard Young trailhead. It was fun to explore the creek that runs through it. Lots of woodpeckers and interesting fungus as well. We walked around 2.4 miles and did most of the trails other than the prairie loop off the East trail. I would definitely recommend checking it out. There are not mile after mile of trails but the trails are very pretty and for a half day of exploration it’s a good choice!

Silver Springs State Fish and Wildlife Area - Yorkville

Lucy Rechsteiner: Trail system is clearly marked and maintained. Lots of people fishing and plenty of parking! Can’t wait to see it when there’s more color on the trees. Great place to bring our baby son for his first hike!
