1 /5 J T: May 2019.....My sister drove up from Arkansas to visit family and so we could get our hair braided together. This would be only my SECOND time getting my hair professionally braided in 52 years. I was excited. We had a relative who went to the shop and had a good experience so we decided to try Mimi. My sister called earlier in the week to make our appointment and asked if there would be 2 persons each braiding our hair. She was told yes but that was NOT true. We arrived at the shop at 6:50 for a 7a.m. appointment. A lady started doing my shoulder length hair at 7:15. Mimi was late and started on my sisters hair about 7:40. Both ladies seemed to be nice. Mimi suggested that since I had natural hair, I should get my SHOULDER LENGTH NATURAL hair done with the smaller braids for $20 more that would be braided half way. Since she was the expert, I trusted in her suggestion. But the next day I noticed that some of my hair was sticking out on some braids in the section of the unbraided hair. This was because none of the braiding was done at least halfway down!!!! While there, we witnessed that there was a lot of over booking clients. One young lady sat an hour before getting into my chair. Another lady waited 4 hours before getting into my sisters chair. Both had 2:30 appointments.
The next day I called Mimi and calmly attempted to explain to her my concern that wasnt noticeable yesterday because of all the spray and mousse used. She immediately got defensive and put the blame on my hair being natural. I told her that I was not going to argue with her, I was not happy, she was being very rude so there was no reason to continue the conversation. I hung up. She called back 5 minutes later with a calmer attitude. At the least I was expecting an apology but she continued with the same narrative and not LISTENING to what I was saying. In total, my sister and I spent $440 and 11 1/2 hours that wasnt planned in Mimis shop because we expected 2 people to be braiding each of our heads. She wasnt truthful and seems to care more about over booking customers to put money in her pocket and NOT customer service!!!
