3 /5 Becky: If you want some nice views and get 10K steps, head to Navy Pier AKA The Peoples Pier. An outdoor venue with food options (chain eateries) and many boating tours for tourists and citizens. Not a whole lot to do, views and fresh air. If you are looking for robust activities, this isnt the venue for you.
I walked here from my hotel, which was about a mile and half away. A scenic walk along Lake Michigan. Good weather permitting, you will have a beautiful outdoor and relaxing experience.
The Chicagos Childrens Museum and The Shakespeare Theater are both located on Navy Pier.
During my visit, a childrens choir, various age groups performed. It was nice to see the youth singing and a community of people enjoying the entertainment.
I cant speak to parking options, but, I saw a transit center and bus stops nearby. I would say, getting to Navy Pier on public transportation would be easy and convenient.
Visiting Navy Pier will be determined by what you expect to gain. This isnt your turn up spot unless something specific is going on. I recommend managing your expectations.
