4 /5 Jason Neel: The Field Museum is an incredible place with amazing exhibits and so much to see! The main exhibits were absolutely fascinating, and we were blown away by the depth of history and detail in the collections. The museum itself is well-maintained and easy to navigate, making for a great visit overall.
That said, we did pay for all the extra ticketed exhibitions, and unfortunately, some didn’t quite meet our expectations. For example, the Underground Adventure and the 3D movie felt like they could have been great, but the experience was affected by the staff running those areas—their attitudes weren’t the most welcoming, which took away from the experience. It wasn’t that the content was bad, but the lack of enthusiasm from the staff made it feel like we didn’t quite get the value we were hoping for.
On the other hand, the front desk staff and ticketing office were awesome! They were friendly, helpful, and made check-in a breeze, which we really appreciated.
Overall, we still highly recommend visiting the Field Museum—it’s a must-see in Chicago! Just be mindful of which extra exhibits you choose to add on.
