5 /5 Ruben Pereyra: Grant Park – Where Chicagos Big Dreams Took Root!
Originally known as Lake Park, this iconic green space has been part of Chicago since its earliest days. Renamed in 1901 to honor President Ulysses S. Grant, it has grown through landfills and spirited debates about public access to the lakefront.
Bounded by Randolph Street, Roosevelt Road, Michigan Avenue, and Lake Michigan, Grant Park is more than a park — it’s where Chicago shines with gardens, art, concerts, sports, and epic events.
Fun fact: This area helped host the World’s Columbian Exposition in 1893 — a turning point in Chicago’s global rise, alongside the historic canal connecting the Great Lakes to the Mississippi!
So yes, it’s windy — but in the Windy City, that just means the ideas (and your hair) move fast! Totally worth the visit.
