  • Carlyle Lake State Wildlife Management Area -
Justin Brown: Probably some of the best fishing in the state, lots of cool places to fish from and cool spots to grill.
    Twelve Oaks Vineyard - Carlyle

Julie Burt: I cannot say enough about this hidden gem, we found it just being out of for a drive. The staff are super friendly and nothing is any trouble to them. We had the wine flight and then the Blueberry Slushies which were delicious. We bought a few bottles of wine and the Veterans Tribute Wines are amazing and a portion of the proceeds goes towards the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Illinois. We enjoyed a beautiful sunny day with live music and good people.
    General Dean Bridge -
    General Dean Bridge
Michael Gear: Cool bridge. Saw it from the road on my way through town, and I decided to pull over and check it out. Not sad that I stopped.
Eldon Hazlet State Recreation Area - Carlyle
    Eldon Hazlet State Recreation Area
Kerrie Dewey: Just want to mention first that there is no water hook up here. Besides that down fall this is a good camp ground for families. There are multiple parks, a pool, a small store, and trails for walking or hiking. Showers and restrooms are nice and clean, the water in the showers is nice and hot. Volleyball and basketball courts add to the list of family activities. Please drive slow and be alert, children and their toys or bikes are bond to be anywhere! For $20 a night you really cant ask for more and the lake is beautiful with multiple beaches and boat ramps.
    Woodyard Conservation Area - Charleston

Paula Vaske: Charleston is blessed to have such a nice hiking area. There are multiple trails for different hiking levels. I wouldnt describe any of the trails being higher than a moderate level. The only criticism I have is that the trails arent always clearly marked. I took the red trail all away around the lake. And although I understood the direction of the trail, there were multiple intersections that I was uncertain of. The trail was very clean and well kept.
Lincoln Douglas Debate Museum - Charleston
    Lincoln Douglas Debate Museum
Jennifer Munoz: We were very excited to visit the Lincoln Douglas, Debate museum and we were not disappointed. The museum is very nicely spread out. It was a self guided tour. It was very clean on the inside and the outside. It was very easy access in and out of the museum, there’s also bathrooms on the outside of the museum. Make sure you look it sits inside of the fairground so that you don’t miss it.
Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site - Lerna
Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site
Marc Crawford: Very cool place of history to visit if you are in the area. Nice visitor center with a great museum. There is a 14 minute video you can watch before you walk around the property. Some things might be reconstructed, but it is still cool to visit. There were baby sheep there while we visited. It is all free to visit, so it is worth it if you are in the area.
    Douglas-Hart Nature Center - Mattoon
    Douglas-Hart Nature Center
JOHAN GUZMAN: A nice place in Mattoon to walk and connect a little with nature, if you want tranquility and breathe real peace come to walk in this place
Fox Ridge State Park - Charleston
    Fox Ridge State Park
Janna Jae Shaffer: Great place with clear walking trails, lots of activities and not crowded. There are playground areas for children and a camping area. There are picnic tables and grills throughout the park. Great area for fishing or kayaking as well!
    Skydeck Chicago - Chicago
    Skydeck Chicago
Liliana Chilpa: If you want to get great photos my suggestion is to arrive around 6.30-7pm so you can catch the sunset. If you are in a rush then the expedited entry is your best option, but if that is not the case i strongly recommend going with the standard experience. They have tons of great displays to learn more about Chicago and the building in general that you cannot miss!
