1 /5 Gage Reichek: Came to Shelton’s Auto Repair for an oil leak diagnosis. Shelton charged me $1,000 for valve cover gasket replacements which did not solve my leak problem. I took it back the next week because the leak persisted from another location which he failed to identify to first time, to which he charged me $500 for a seal replacement. After one week the leak persisted for the second time, causing me to avoid this shop for my third diagnosis. The third party shop I took my car to explained that the leak was actually coming from my oil pan, and the cost to replace it would be over $3,000. This is on-top of the original $1,500 I paid due to Mr. Shelton’s claims that they would resolve my issue. After confronting Mr. Shelton he defended himself by claiming “the oil did not leak from that spot when i looked at it.” I have photo evidence with timestamps to prove the leak persisted even after both jobs were performed and paid for, though Mr. Shelton did not want to offer any form of compensation. Legal battles are something you have to put cash and effort towards. If you want to save your money and time, find a reputable mechanic and not someone who will charge you for a job they didn’t properly diagnose.
