Marnee Ostoa I have been coming to Alicia for about a year now to color my hair. I had gotten a split hair dye and had been trying out different hair salons (ranging from inexpensive to very expensive) around Pilsen to find a good colorist. I jumped around every month struggling to find someone who wouldn’t mess up my split hair dye. Finally, I found Alicia’s hair salon and Alicia is the best. She was so thorough with the bleaching process, making sure the line in my split dye was straight and she made sure my blonde side and black side were exactly the color I wanted. I was so impressed by her technique and professionalism that I decided I would never go to anyone else. I highly recommend scheduling an appointment with Alicia if you want quality and high-end results. To top it all off, her prices are the best around the area. Don’t waste your money at other gentrified ‘high end’ establishments in the area, book your hair appointment with Alicia!

Tina Walker Monty is the best hair stylist in Chicago. Hands down and undisputed! Not only are his hands blessed, his spirit is blessed also. I have gone to many popular stylists in Chicago, and now only Monty can touch my hair. Joanna Dominguez I wouldn’t recommend going over after a bad experienced with the older ladies I went to get my hair done I wanted a haircut one of them who attended me was showing me and asking me what kind of hairstyle I wanted then her coworker was like telling her in Spanish why she make up her mind we’re busy etc… even though her coworker couldn’t mind her own business I understand Spanish I’m bilingual since I was small they expect to pay still I don’t know what she put in my hair that messed up my hair

Mina Kim I don’t know much about haircuts, but I do know that feeling of satisfaction when you have the haircut you wanted and you walk out feeling amazing, that was not today. Okay, the hairdressers are nice don’t get me wrong. But the lady that did my hair was not focused on my hair the whole time. She was either watching the tv, adjusting the tv volume. My hair was cut too short, on one side it was choppy while on the other, looked decent. By decent I mean not layers. I saw another review saying that the hairdresser cut the hair how they want it. And boy were they right. Yes, they might have cheap prices, but boy are the haircuts bad. I was so excited about my haircut, I should have waited it out or gone to some other place. I tried to look at the bright side of the haircut. It wasn’t working. I tried convincing myself that it was good. She did however remove a lot of hair which is what I wanted, but not in the way I wanted. But hey, we all learn from our mistakes. I hope that this review finds them well. Denise Martinez She hooks me up every time! Had a bad bleach job looked like a strawberry pumpkin she fixed my hair brought it back to life i have curly hair never cuts more than i want. Old skool lil Mexican lady shes really sweet definitely recommend her.

joanna li Luis is absolutely fantastic. Went to him to change up my hair from a dark brown to a cherry coke red, and he made it absolutely gorgeous—the color AND the styling! Will be going to Luis for all of my hair needs from now on. Highly recommend.

Montelle L. Gaji I absolutely love Nadias shop! Stacy was the stylist for myself and my daughter with Autism. Stacy was patient and very kind to us. The sew process did not take long at all either. We love our hair and the top notch service we received. We will definitely be repeat clients!

Mackenzie Sharpe HORRIBLE!!!!! My appointment was at 3pm. I didn’t see a chair until 6pm. My stylist was SHERRY. It took until 10pm for a simple silk press to be done and after my blow-dry I specifically states that I did not want a trim because I dont trust stylists, and I would trim and style my own hair at home with help. Sherry went behind my back and chopped off 3 inches of growth under the notion that my hair was dry/brittle/recently out of locs. I understood this and still would have rather gotten a trim at home because I wear my hair naturally in an afro and only plan to get a press once a year. She cut my hair anyway, was on the phone, and the silk-press itself was poofy, unfinished, and uneven. Unprofessional when confronted. Worst salon experience of my life. Don’t go. Pics below.

Emma Gamero I really wanted to like this salon but I was let down. Firstly, this salon MAJORLY LACKS DIVERSITY. All the faces here are white so that was my first mistake. I’m a Latina girl and I have course, thick, wavy hair and I wanted a flat iron to leave my hair looking smooth and shiny but what I was left with was dull, half wavey, and frizzy hair! I had asked for a touch up and nothing was changed. I just really think these white women who deal with straight thin hair everyday don’t know how to style any other hair type, it’s sad. The people here were nice and the place smelled/looked clean but the service was inexperienced and expensive. I’m sorry I will not be coming here again.

Brighid Martensen They get two stars for trying. And in their defence: I froze up and didnt say anything and simply left after paying to immediately book a different studio. The other haircuts I saw walking out looked incredible: but short hair is not their forte. They were very nice, but punk rockers be warned. But they left me covered in bleach (those white spots on my face? Bleach), pulled on my eyebrow piercing twice to the point it bled, and I walked out with hair that looked like this. Uneven, poorly layered, mushroom hair. Ended up getting a buzz cut because it was not fixable.

Paige Leonard I visited Salon 8 for the first time and had an excellent hairdresser named Filomena! I Had my hair color corrected and the coloring turned out excellent. I also got long Layers and it looks so good! She knew exactly what I wanted, I definitely recommend her!

Lila Wine Filly has been cutting my hair since I was a kid, and never disappoints! I’ve had both very long and very short hair throughout my lifetime and I’ve always been satisfied with the result. She certainly knows her way around all kinds of hairstyles and is a great person on top of that! Highly recommend coming here for a professional cut.

Joan Drecoll Stacy always does a great job with my cut and color. She really listens and delivers. She figures out exactly what’s needed for what I’m trying to describe. I’ve never been happier with a stylist. Her expertise surpasses anyone I’ve ever had. The cut and color hold up for as long as needed. The outgrowth blends in so well that it’s barely noticeable. It’s always a pleasure to relax in her capable hands. Theo is also a great manager- his staff is always friendly and helpful. It’s great to have found this salon.

Kyra Lobbins I highly recommend Stacy for your hair needs! Not only does she consistently give me excellent haircuts that Im always happy with, but she also makes the entire experience enjoyable. She has also straightened my hair a few times and did a good job. Stacy has a genuine way of making you feel valued as a client, and I always leave feeling great about my hair and the service.

Gia Marie They have a very friendly staff, but a poorly trained worker did a horrendous job on my mothers hair. My mother came into their establishment wanting a beach wave perm, and thats not what she came out with. One of the workers named Anareli over-processed her hair. She left the rollers on for too long and completely damaged her hair. Not kidding; its so frizzy and burnt. Anareli then cuts her hair after the perm, even giving her bangs. She butchered her hair. Cut it so extremely short. My mother asked her NOT to cut it short, and she definitely did NOT want bangs. "I have to cut the damaged hair," Anareli said. Her work already damaged my mothers hair, so there was no need to cut it and make her hair so uneven. Sadly, she also brushed and washed her hair after the perm as well. Which is exactly what youre NOT supposed to do at all. Anareli is not experienced to be doing perms. She clearly had no clue what she was doing with my mothers hair. Imagine this: Your hair length pasts your shoulders. You then get a perm at a salon, but they completely burn it, making it frizzy, and cut your hair at neck length, not to mention they completely uneven your hair. A damaged Karen haircut with bangs. Word of advice, if you dont know how to do a perm, leave that persons hair alone. If you want a professional haircut done, save your hair and go somewhere else.

Joseph Castillo This salon is great! Anareli did an incredible Brazilian blowout for me! I especially appreciate her patience when it came to my very curly hair, and she taught me quite a lot about hair care in the process too. All the staff were nice and professional as well. And they even have snacks and coffee for you during your wait or long appointments. Easy 5 stars

Veronica Gonzalez I have been coming for over a year now and let me just say I love it here. Laly is the person who does my hair and it always comes out just so beautifully. Rosa is absolutely amazing she does my waxing, and each time it’s less painful. They really take their time with their clients and that to me is worth the experience. I Highly recommend this place

Ana Cholico I am so grateful to have found this nail salon. They were able to schedule me and my friend on a Friday at 4pm for manicures. The staff is friendly and the salon is so cute! It is also very clean. I got a gel set and absolutely love it! The nail shape is perfect and I have received so many compliments on my nails. I will be back for sure! If you haven’t checked it out yet don’t hesitate.

Anna ONeal I went because I’d seen reviews about how Traci knows how to do curly hair. Boy was I even more impressed than I expected to be! She cut it so that it will curl nicely and have a good shape overall. She really knows what she’s doing and I will throw all my $ for my hair her way!

Sanne Boxhoorn Goulart Traci is seriously the best!! I asked her to do a daring haircut (and that in curly hair) - and OMG it was even better then expected!! She is the best hair dresser I have ever had - on top of that she cut my autistic daughters hair twice - and that is not an easy job…. And she managed and made it look amazing!! She also really knows how to cut curly hair - not something most hairdressers know. Besides that she is such a great, fun and funky person. Could not recommend more!!

Ben Campos Update 4/16 - The owner Dawn reached out to her and offered to make it right. Dawn did a great job fixing it, and she loves her new haircut! Leaving review on behalf of my fiancee: I had an appointment with Iris for a color and cut. It felt like the whole time she was rushing and not very attentive. At the end of the appointment, I pointed out that the haircut was uneven. She quickly cut the one side in one sweep, which didn’t fix it.

Elena Reyes ​I swung by Fringe in Wicker Park for a much-needed hair refresh and got a womens cut with a blowout—set me back around $70 before tip. The stylist, Lucy, was super attentive and took the time to understand exactly what I was going for. The salon has a chill, artsy vibe that fits right in with the neighborhood, and the staff made me feel right at home. Only reason Im giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because my appointment started about 15 minutes late, which threw off my schedule a bit. But overall, the quality of service and the end result were worth it. If youre in the area and looking for a salon that knows how to treat you right, this is the spot.

Regina Dyhouse I moved to this neighborhood a little over a year ago, and havent had a regular stylist since moving. I went to Fringe, and had Trillium give me a haircut. She took a lot of time during the consultation so she could be sure to give me what I wanted, and I have to say, I LOVE my new hair. Ive gotten so many compliments!!! The space is also incredibly clean and welcoming and I cant wait to go back for my next appointment! Highly recommend this salon!

Noni C My review is late now but I DO NOT recommend this place at ALL!! Extremely unprofessional. I waited over an hour in two different occasions to get my brows done because the only person that did eyebrows was still home. I was so disappointed when I went to go cut my hair. If you don’t know the techniques of a hair cut simply just say so, don’t try something you don’t know on a client.

Jasmine Pinon The woman cut my hair real nice, but had no idea how to wax eyebrows. It was a long and painful process. I dont know why she didnt ask someone more experienced to do them. Either way, my hair looks cute.

Gwendolyn Kendricks I booked with Deseiree (zootiee2x ) 1rst appointment at the time of the appointment i get a message saying im coming off the train. She talked over my head the whole time. She kept stepping out to talk 15 mins at a time while i was in her chair. Second time i showed up for her not to even show up. My appointment was just pushed to the side I called and text this woman all morning for her to tell me to come to the shop hours later. I show up for the appointment which i shouldn’t have for her to talk on the phone over my head and turn my parts in my head into circle parts when they are squared off. I let her know that i needed them corrected she made me wait and then told me there’s nothing wrong with my parts. Moving right along i booked for February with another loctician in Issues. I booked for the wrong month so she was going to just fit me in today. When she found out i was the one that was complaining about my parts she said she had to check with desiree because she most likely wouldn’t be cool with it. I called and asked her what was the decision. She told me she’s sorry she can’t do my hair because Desiree isn’t cool with it. So in other words if you leave me as a client I’m going to make sure no one does your hair. When i tell you this woman is past unprofessional she told me waiting for her to show up is something you have to do when having locs. She has a lot to learn because if a person has a appointment a good loctician would have made sure she scheduled appointments far enough apart.or he’ll show up for your clients. So the other stylist apologized when the right thing to do would have been to do my hair. Not say sorry and return my deposit. Desiree told me that they both are the hottest locticians in south loop and they have both chosen not to do my hair. The other loctician is hot desiree is simply a wannna be. The part that kills me is that i was never going to let Desiree touch my hair again. I haven’t booked with her in months. BASICALLY ISSUES HAS MORE ISSUES THAT TISSUE. Keep your money it’s a circus in there.

Jackie Gaither The one star is for the shampoo girl....my stylist was the worst! I have never been so disappointed. I legit look like i got a bald fade with an uneven bang. This is supposed to be a pixie cut. It looks HORRIBLE. I went to the owner, and it was a huge mistake. Please keep looking if you want a short do. Something tells me that her regular clients get better treatment. I paid over $200 and it was a total waste. I put on a wig as soon as I got home

Alicia Robinson The people were nice. The way she polished my nails could have been better. Then when I asked her something about my pedicure, she said “next time I’ll do it better.” Huh?????

Yoman Man This is a great salon, especially great for the mature. They understand what a middle aged thinks and likes, but they could be very creative. I am very satisfied with the coloring of my hair today. Ah Chuen is wonderful. Mora, the licensed beauty salon instructor has great ideas for my style. I am my experience.

Alex Madeira Ive been coming back here for quite awhile now, always been satisfied with my haircuts. They have a friendly staff, clean facility, and some decent memberships if you decide you want to go back to them. I ask for Wu to style my hair because hes does a great job on my head and knows what looks good. Overall, I fully recommend this salon.
