5 /5 Brandon Ballard: Gather round ye children it is high time you heard about a hero named Hobnobbers and the story of how they saved Christmas.
Before I get in to this story, I have to say this place has great pizza for sycamore. And probably the best wings in the area. Try the teriyaki. The service is impeccable whether you sit at the bar or in the restaurant area. And they have a service window for picking up from your car. The smiles behind the bar are always friendly and theres charge ports at the bar for your phone.
But the real story here is the time Hobnobbers saved an unsavable Christmas. One of the first times I hosted a family holiday at my home and our family tradition is to make homemade pizzas. I picked up all the ingredients but I didnt like the sausage so I was going to stop at Reams or Caputos and forgot. You would have thought I ruined Christmas based on my familys reaction and nearly did.
I felt terrible, but Google maps told me Jewel was open on Christmas Eve and the holiday was saved.
Google however lied and Jewel was closed, Christmas was ruined again.
My nephew and I were on a quest from God to retrieve this sausage and save Christmas and looking into his doe eyes I didnt want to let him or my family down. Luckily Caseys kiddie corner from Jewel was lit up. They sell pizzas and have sausage, Christmas is saved.
Cockily I strode into Caseys and got the attention of a clearly annoyed pizza maker.
"Do you want to help me save Christmas?" I asked as I explained my predicament..
"I dont have time for this" was her reply.
Again I pleaded my case and was met with a no. The thought had never ever occurred to me. As I stood there in disbelief, I order a large extra sausage pizza par cooked, she said they couldnt do that. I said a calzone then. Caseys was not interested in helping me save Christmas.
Defeated and in a very dark place I slumped back to the Jeep. Defeated and down, no low.
But what does this have to do with Hobnobbers? My blessed little nephew with his doe eyes was not destroyed by the current events and still held on to his Christmas spirit.
He egged me on and pleaded with me not to give up. "What about that place" he beckoned across the street to a corner bar Hobnobbers.
I didnt want to believe again and couldnt stand another tragedy in person, so I said Ill call over there first.
The owner picked up the phone and when I asked him if he wanted to save Christmas, he replied "hell yeah lets do it, lets save Christmas"
His words and spirit were contagious. The Christmas spirit flooded my bent but but broken spirit and dare I believe that Christmas was saved again.
By now the calls from home were deafening asking where I was and what I was doing.
I know this review is much longer than most and I appreciate your patience.
As I arrived to Hobnobbers the owner grabbed us drinks and escorted us back to the kitchen. The kitchen was closed and the cooks gone and we searched through every cooler looking for the sausage without finding it. Christmas was ruined. As we were leaving once again defeated the owner came running out the kitchen with a go box filled with meat. Christmas was saved, we were in business and headed home victorious.
About halfway home we get a call from the owner and he informed us he actually sent us with hamburger but found the sausage and we should come back.
My mom was trying to leave my house to go get McDonalds, there was no way Christmas was not ruined.
We returned to Hobnobbers and were welcomed with more drinks and friendly smiles and a go box with what was the best sausage weve ever put on a pizza. Thank you Hobnobbers for saving Christmas. Sorry for the long review. Just thought Id tell you about the time hobnobbers saved Christmas.
