3 /5 Michael Nagel: Dinner was underwhelming overall. The menu reads beautifully and the dish descriptions sound great, but both the atmosphere and execution missed the mark. My wife made reservations for a special occasion and we were seated in the kitchen access hallway, in a booth directly across from the employee coat closet. A manager should always check in with any table placed there—let me repeat: always. No one acknowledged that seating choice; the only people who interacted with us were staff walking by to hang up their coats.
Food:
• Ceviche: I had to reread the menu to confirm it was supposed to be made with lime and cilantro. Ours had none of the brightness or zip you’d expect—flat flavor, no freshness.
• Spicy Chicken & Mushroom Soup: Easily the best thing we had—rich, flavorful, really well done. My partner thought there might be a bit of fish sauce in it, for those who are sensitive to that flavor.
• Wagyu Steak: Tender, cooked nicely to medium‑rare, and very tasty, but it arrived looking lonely. For the price and the cut, I would’ve liked to see some thoughtful vegetable sides on the plate instead of just a great piece of meat on its own.
• Dearborn Burger: Boring. Not bad, just forgettable—nowhere near a top‑10 burger in the city.
With a menu this promising, the experience should be a lot better than “fine, but disappointing,” especially for a special occasion.
