1 /5 Ted371: I wanted to share my experience at Dr. Martin Ruelass office in Peoria, because I have some concerns. Basically, the assessment I got there didnt line up at all with what I found out later at another clinic.
Dr. Ruelas found a lot of number four pockets around my back teeth—upper and lower, left and right, including the very back ones. But when I went to another dentist, they only found two or three number four pockets in the back, and maybe one in the front. Thats a lot less than what Dr. Ruelas reported, which was at least twice as many.
On top of that, Dr. Ruelas told me my gums were inflamed, but the other dentist said they looked healthy and that Im doing a good job keeping my teeth clean. Dr. Ruelas also recommended a root planing and said I had two cavities. The other dentist, at Dental Group of Springfield, didnt think they were cavities. They suggested it might be strain on the teeth and not that serious, and wanted to wait and see. I also have staining on my teeth, which could explain some of the concern about cavities. So, theres a small chance Dr. Ruelas could be right about the cavities, but it seems unlikely.
I also want to mention that when I brought up these issues, which I had never been told about before and which made it sound like my condition was far worse than normal, Dr. Ruelas responded by saying I was implying he was lying, which I thought was incredibly rude and unprofessional.
Because of these big differences, and the way I was treated, Im very worried about the accuracy of the first assessment. Id strongly suggest to anyone to get a second opinion.
