1 /5 Sara Wilson: I went in for just a regular check up about a month ago, and I did not have a good experience at all! This was my first time with the new dentist, and I was not impressed in the way that she did things.
Once I got there, I was taken back to get cleaned, and the dentist (she does the full cleaning herself with an assistant) put some kind of numbing gel on my teeth before she cleaned them. I wasnt there to get a cavity filled or have any work done at all! I was just there for a cleaning, so there was no need for the numbing gel in the first place. Anyway, she put it on very sloppily, and over half of it ended up on my tongue and down my throat. While she was cleaning, she seemed very forceful, and did not seem to care about me, the patient at all. It felt like she just wanted to get me in and out as quick as possible, and thats exactly what happened. I was out of there in 10-15 minutes, and part of that time I was just sitting in the chair waiting for them to figure out how to work the computer.
Now dont get me wrong, I like a quick cleaning, but this was the worst dentist visit Ive ever had. She was brutal with the toothpaste; just kind of jamming it onto my tooth with force that I could still feel even with the numbing gel. Her assistant rinsed my mouth, but just enough so there werent any big chunks of toothpaste left that she could see; there was still a lot of toothpaste in my mouth. The dentist then began to floss my teeth, but she really just jammed the floss in between my teeth acting like she was flossing. She didnt even floss the teeth that had a permanent retainer on them, and the other people that were here before this new lady took extra time to make sure that nothing was stuck in those teeth that had the retainer on them. After the "flossing", I was given a little cup full of mouthwash, and when I asked where to spit it out (there was a sink less than 3 feet away from me), I was told to spit it back into the tiny it came in like they didnt have a sink anywhere near.
Then, I was done. I came home and rinsed my mouth out with ice cold water at least 4 or 5 times, and I couldnt even feel it on my tongue, throat, or half of my mouth because of the numbing gel that she put on to CLEAN my teeth. After rinsing, I could still taste the toothpaste that was plastered all over my teeth.
This was THE WORST experience I have ever had at the dentist, and normally do not review places. However, this was awful, and something needs to be done about it. There should be no need to put numbing gel on a regular person to clean their teeth unless they have a severe sensitivity, but I was asked if my teeth were sensitive, and I said "nope, not at all!" I can bite into an ice cream cone with no complications. I did not ask for the numbing gel in the first place; she just told me that she was going to put it on.
I will not be returning to this office until something is done about this new dentist, and I have been coming here since I was a little kid. I DO NOT recommend this new dentist at all.
