1 /5 Cheryl bell: First time here because the Ford dealership wanted a $175 diagnostic fee and would not apply it to the repair cost. Had to repair/replace the center console control sync device on a 2011 Ford Explorer…a known issue on the car. Knew the part would run about $800 but was not told the following…that there was a chance the replacement part could only be completely programmed at a Ford dealership. Apparently Ford plays “I’ve got a secret”. The thing is Tevoert led me to believe that they had done this type of repair numerous times yet I was never told this might be an issue. Personally, I can’t believe that when it comes time to order the part that there isn a disclaimer stating that only Ford can program the Sync device. I don’t have a problem paying for the part, provided it is, indeed, the correct one. I do, however, have an issue paying an $400 charge that does absolutely nothing to solve the issue. And that is on top of the $175+ I am now going to have to pay Ford to program the Sync device. A little more open, honest discussion may have saved me about $400.
