Worlds Largest Superman Statue - Metropolis
Worlds Largest Superman Statue
Shelley Iverson: Stopped by the World’s Largest Superman Statue in Metropolis, IL, and it did not disappoint! It’s such a fun and quirky roadside attraction—perfect for a quick stretch or some superhero selfies. The statue itself is impressive—towering over the town square with that iconic cape flying behind him. The area is super clean and well kept, and there’s even a little Superman museum and gift shop nearby if you’re into comic book history. Parking was easy, the vibe was cheerful, and it’s just one of those places that makes a road trip feel like an adventure. Totally worth a 15–30 minute stop if you’re passing through. Pro tip: Don’t miss the Lois Lane statue down the block!
Lois Lane Statue - Metropolis
Lois Lane Statue
Bradley Paluch: Drove down to visit the Lois Lane statue all the way from Chicago. Arrived with my cockpit and a camera to shoot various Superman themed landmarks around Metropolis. The Lois Lane statue has meaning in my family because my mother’s name is Lois. When she was younger she used to collect Superman comics to read about Lois Lane. I’m guessing my father was her Superman. Loved the statue but it took a second to find. Drove right past it the first time. Second time almost did the same thing. It is on the right of the street heading north away from the Superman statue.

L Grabb: I was really looking forward to seeing the butter cow this year, but unfortunately, it was still too early for them to be open, so I could only get this close. It was on my summer bucket list too!
Starhill Forest Arboretum - Petersburg
Starhill Forest Arboretum
evan grigsby: For anyone who enjoys the great outdoors, Starhill Arboretum is a place to contact and go enjoy all of its natural beauty! My husband and I had the privilege of finding this hidden gem and being able to take our wedding party photos on their land. Our whole wedding party had never been to this location and wished that we would have had a few extra moments so that they could have explore it fully. We all loved how the location offered several different layouts for photo opportunities. The variety and types of trees and plants were incredibly beautiful and bountiful. Star Hill Arboretum made for the best wedding photos that we will get to treasure forever! A big thank you to Edie and Guy for allowing us to use Starhill Arboretum for our big day!

Illinois Route 66 Experience at Illinois State Fairground
cliffb1930: Fun outdoor park documenting route and history of Rte 66 in Illinois. A collection of signs, trivia, and a pathway which “takes you from Chicago to LA”…or at least St Louis. I walked it quickly in less than 10 minutes, but you could easily spend double to take in all the information signs and art. A nice diversion!
Coliseum - Springfield
Coliseum
Helen Adams: We visited for the NABCX and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The facilities have improved greatly and visiting outside the fair means parking up close and enjoying the festivities with a smaller crowd! Highly recommend checking out any of the non-fair events for a more laid back and enjoyable time.
