  • LA Fitness - Chicago
    LA Fitness
Angela H: The dirtiest and most disorganized gym I’ve been to. Nothing was re-racked, free weights/plates/benches in random spots around the gym, and wipe containers empty. The weights on the floor are a safety hazard. Anybody could trip over them and injure themselves.
    Chitown Mecca Fitness - Chicago
Crystal Watson: Chitown Mecca Fitness is a great gym nestled in the Back of the Yards. It has state of the art equipment, professional trainers, various weight lifting and cardio equipment. Its very clean and has a warm home gym feel. Membership prices are very affordable!!
Chicago Barbell Compound - #1 Workout Gym - Chicago
Bob Mersch: Chicago Barbell Compound (CBC) is a great place to work out. I’ve been a member since February 2024. The gym is fully equipped with a range of stations and machines for every exercise. The people who attend this gym are always respectful and friendly. For example, asking for a spot from another member is always well received. The coaches are especially approachable. The facility is well kept and the cleaning crew is diligent. I highly recommend CBC to anyone in the area who needs a great gym.
    Fit City - Chicago
Skye Benitez: Nice gym and great spot. I like what Jose has done with the space. Unfortunately I did not get to spend as much time as Id like. Recommend staying away from a client named Mike, hes the main reason I didnt return back.
    wear|haus fitness - Chicago
Annabel Lucas: I have been taking classes at Wearhaus for almost 5 years. I love all of the classes, and my favorite is Danshaus! The choreography is so much fun and anyone can follow along. Jess and Kelsey are so welcoming and everyone is included! I’ve met some of my closest friends through the studio. I started taking private sessions with Jess when I was 8 months postpartum. I feel stronger now than I ever have in my life! Jess listens to my needs and curates a routine to fit my goals. 10/10 recommend!
    Vibez Fit - Chicago
Dr Enya Kalia: Had such a great experience here! The lady at the front desk was super friendly and welcoming, which set a really positive tone right from the start. The instructor was incredibly supportive throughout the class and made the whole workout both fun and motivating. I tried the Booty 45 class, and honestly, it was amazing — a totally different style of workout than what I’m used to. I felt challenged during the class, but surprisingly I wasn’t sore the next day, which made it perfect since I had to get back to work. Would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking to try something new and refreshing in their fitness routine
    Chicago Strength Avondale - Chicago
Trevor Vallier: Chicago Strength has become my main training hub and it’s been worth every session. I joined on their 3-month intro membership and since day one, the coaches, programming, and overall atmosphere have been top notch. I’ve been consistent with my training — hitting 20+ classes across circuits, strength & conditioning, metcons, and HYROX Sundays — and every single one has pushed me in the right direction. The variety in programming keeps things challenging but balanced: strength sessions have rebuilt my base, circuits and metcons keep my engine sharp, and the HYROX work has carried over directly to my race prep. Tracking my workouts shows just how effective these sessions are — the intensity is always dialed in, but the coaching cues make sure form and progression come first. I also really appreciate the community vibe. Even with a packed class, you still get attention and encouragement. Plus, the intro deal gave me the flexibility to test consistency and truly see if this was the right fit long-term (it absolutely is). If you’re looking for a training environment that blends serious strength & conditioning with functional performance, this is the place.
V Tone Fitness Gym Chicago - Chicago
Julia Martinez: Been training at V Tone for a few months now, and its become my go-to spot. The membership gives me access to a clean, well-maintained gym with everything I need—free weights, cardio machines, and even a boxing area. The staff is friendly and always willing to help. They offer a variety of classes, including yoga, Zumba, and boot camp. Parking can be a bit tricky, but its worth it for the quality and atmosphere.
    Lakeview Athletic Club - Chicago
Kaylee Titus: I have been going here for a year and was having an overall decent experience, and then was trying to initiate a freeze since i was traveling, so I was trying to do it through the app and it wasn’t working, so I went in a couple days before my cycle was up and asked the kind redhead man at the front what to do and he told me to update the app or initiate a form through the system. I tried to do both and they weren’t working, and then I called again the day before my account would be getting billed and the lady told me I would have to make a request 10 days before. And then I get an email finally responding to my 2 forms I had sent in about freezing, one saying my freeze request was successful for the next month and the other saying it wasn’t , and then I just decided it was too much and I request a cancellation for after the next months period. So then I go in, and understandably get stopped by the front to check things out about my freeze. Then, some guy Noah from billing/memberships basically tells me I didnt contact them the amount of times I did, and I can’t stop a membership the day of (which I had tried to stop it several times before the day of) and doesn’t hear me out and tells me that ai’m just straight up wrong. And that’s when I just got so upset because I was trying to freeze my membership before then and was having such a hard time doing so, and instead of sympathizing a bit, he basically claims that I am lying, and moreover said the front staff knows what they’re doing and I’m wrong. I honestly left very confused, and taken aback by how poorly I was talked to and the situation was handled. I don’t ever like to write BAD reviews of organizations, but Very upset with the ending of how that turned out and how I was spoken to. Now, I do want to say Jose from membership called later and was very kind and objectively laid out the cancellation process from there, which was all I was looking for, so I received some good help from there, but very disappointed by my prior treatment.
    Starting Strength Chicago - Chicago
Kami Davis: I cannot recommend this gym enough! I love that throughout your training you receive custom feedback on the movements based on your specific body type, unique history, and goals. Whether you are new to barbell training or an experienced lifter, the coaches give you individualized attention and expertise that help you improve your performance both safely and effectively. As a novice in the gym, I was nervous and intimidated to start training but this gym community and encouraging atmosphere has made each session fun and approachable. Alex is not only very knowledgeable but extremely encouraging and supportive. He really takes the time to assess your individual needs while challenging you to maximize your potential. Alex has helped me train through an injury, recover from surgery, and I’m now stronger than I ever thought I could be. Highly recommend!
