5 /5 Jen Bee: Never been to this preserve before today, a beautiful spring day when things are just starting to bloom. I may have caught it at just the perfect time, but its a wonderful place to study plants. It felt almost prehistoric with the amazing number of different plants covering the grounds - its quite different from a lot of preserves where invasive honeysuckle is overtaking everything.
Expect some muddy, bumpy trails (though the loop that was the muddiest can be avoided, it was not difficult to navigate). Benches are in many places along the paths so you can sit next to a small stream and enjoy the sounds of nature. Theres a beautiful pine grove as well. We passed a couple of people but this preserve felt comfortably secluded.
Due to the wet areas, Id expect mosquito season to be a little rougher, but I cant wait to go back.
