5 /5 Eric Wellman: Always a Must-Visit as well if your wanting some fresh air or knowledge of the area! We grew up going going on field trips here even...granted, its has definitely improved over the years! You can find a nice peaceful trail to go for a walk on...or even just find one of multiple spots that you can get out, stretch your legs, or even just visit if you need some quiet time to think! I was very impressed with the newer restrooms they have installed...and even added some shelter, along with a fire pit and a play ares for the kids! I will always visit this peaceful little place, Highly recommend!

5 /5 Rebecca Vorwald: This is such a beautiful nature preserve! Wide open spaces. Handicap accessible. Restrooms. Multiple trails that are stroller and wheelchair compatible. A lovely picnic area with shelter house and fire pit!! New playground. Dog friendly. We raised our kids here and cant wait to enjoy this beautiful place with our grandbabies!!! Its a family friendly favorite for sure!

5 /5 Desiree Heniff: Very nice park. Overall, very clean, and trails are marked. We almost never run into anyone else while on the trails, but there is a park before entering the trails where there will be bday parties sometimes.

5 /5 Jen Bee: Never been to this preserve before today, a beautiful spring day when things are just starting to bloom. I may have caught it at just the perfect time, but its a wonderful place to study plants. It felt almost prehistoric with the amazing number of different plants covering the grounds - its quite different from a lot of preserves where invasive honeysuckle is overtaking everything. Expect some muddy, bumpy trails (though the loop that was the muddiest can be avoided, it was not difficult to navigate). Benches are in many places along the paths so you can sit next to a small stream and enjoy the sounds of nature. Theres a beautiful pine grove as well. We passed a couple of people but this preserve felt comfortably secluded. Due to the wet areas, Id expect mosquito season to be a little rougher, but I cant wait to go back.

Rick Jones: From the outside youd never guess how much is inside. We especially enjoyed the local manufacturing rooms. We went for the Thresheree. Bonus! We got to see the huge steam engines and tractors.

Aaron Mooney: My softball team sought to leave the crowded fields of reeds park. There are 3 nice fields, the largest in town, that are surprisingly well maintained. There are also hidden gems aplenty to find for the fortunate traveler. I especially enjoyed the large reeds growing along the pond.

Mineral Springs Park - Pekin

Verthosand Photography: Amazing place to be able to take your kids or a daily walk. There are several things to do at this park. You can watch a baseball game. You can rent a paddle boat which looks like a dragon. There is a playground area that is just for the younger kids. There is a very large walking path that you can walk around the pond.

McNaughton Park - Pekin

Brian Hintz: Great walking experience for you and your dog. There are open fields as well as wooded trails. It is quiet and has very little traffic coming in and out. Be advised that if you are taking your dog, this is a deer haven. We have been able to get with 100 feet, and they stare at you. So, if your pet is highly excitable, this could be an issue. There is no water available. So bring some for your dogs. It has a large frisbee golf course as well. As well as picnic tables and fire pits.

Nasa Rouf: Quick stop by the road, good for a cool break from the driving. Nice views and nice little gazebo to enjoy the gentle breeze. There is a trail too if you like to explore

Troy Smith: My son and I go camping in Southern Illinois every year and always try to pick new areas. This was our first time at Trail of Tears, we didnt get to hike and explore as much as we normally do, because I currently have a broken foot. But we did enjoy our time at the campground. We rented campsite N1 which was perfect for us, because we like to hammock camp. Campsites were very good sized and spaced out nicely!
