5 /5 Alison Jordan-frost: I have had such a positive experience with the university car-x location! last week when I found I had a flat, the guys got to it and got tires put on for me and it was during the weekend! The next week I was having a front end issue and an antifreeze issue they again got me right in. They were knowledgeable, fast, and it didn’t break the bank! Big shout out to the store manager! Thank you guys I feel my car is safe and ready our road trip! PS I will definitely be a return customer!

1 /5 Tyler Keown: Do not go here under any circumstances, the manager cussed me out over the phone when I was trying to resolve a problem. They give faulty inspections, and do not mark anything right on them. They will break your brake lines intentionally And expect you to fix them and pay for it. This is by far the worst mechanic shop in Champaign Urbana area Never go here… They gave me a inspection on breaks and said my break lines were all good then my break line goes out on the interstate and I almost wreck do not shop here Or get an inspection here they don’t care about you and they don’t care about your life if your car breaks down while you’re driving it… and I already talked to customer service which was no help

1 /5 Obaro Samson: Very terrible experience. I had a flat right tire and I took the vehicle to the shop for it to be fixed. I was told I needed to change the my tires, Wheel Bearing, Tie Rod End and Wheel alignment. Each parts on the quote was 3x the market price for such parts. I was told it will take 2hrs to fix. The repair guy left the car unattended and it was not ready until after 4hrs. I took the keys and wanted to drive home, there was a very bad noise (like a rod dragging on the ground) coming from the Front Passenger’s side. I took the car back immediately and I was told the repair guy had gone (closing time was suppose to be 7PM- but here is a repair guy leaving by 5PM). I observed that the nuts were not properly screwed. The Rude staff behind the desk said there was nothing to be done. Next day, I can back and I am told the CV Axel Shaft for that side is bad and need to be fixed. I got another 3x price quote from the rude staff saying nothing can be done till Monday. I was asked to pay for tab damage that was not on my car or their diagnostic report for the car - which was likely a result of poor work. I will not recommend this place to anyone looking to do a good job on their car. If the shop wants to stay in business, they need to work on their staff. No one gets a reward for being rude and handling a business badly probably because it doesn’t belong to them.

2 /5 Ling Ren: This Car-X location is convenient and the staff is very friendly, which is why I gave them a try when I need a battery replacement. But their business practice is questionable to say the least and the mark-up is crazy. The bill for the battery replacement was $286 while a comparable Duralast battery at Autozone sells for $179 (with free installation). Well, Car-x wouldn’t even tell me what brand/model the battery they used, so for all I know, it could be some cheaper generic battery. The worse part is that after the battery replacement, they claimed my alternator needs to be replaced and gave a quote of $1100+. I took the car to a trusted mechanic, and he said my alternator is perfectly fine, and even if the alternator is to be replaced, the cost would have been half of that quote.
