1 /5 Coleen Gabhart: TL;DR Unless it’s a simple polish change or something, beware that you might unexpectedly end up with a huge bill.
I started coming to Studio Nails because my friend recommended them, and my first two visits were great.
But after this visit, I’m literally sitting in the parking lot crying. I am never coming back.
It all started a week ago when I came in to see if I could get my nails filled. The guy at the front desk looked at them and suggested I wait another week, so I made an appt for today.
Today I came in and when I sat down with the technician she looked at my nails and said they can’t be filled because of the technique used by salon where I had them done. I said okay, that’s fine, I actually prefer to get my nails dipped anyway, I just did gel last time because the other salon didn’t have dip (gel is harder on your nails and plus the UV light will give you cancer on your hands).
She then starts cutting off my nails. At this point the guy from the front desk comes over with a look like, what are you doing?! And she explains. I am under the impression that they are going to remove the gel and put dip instead, without extensions- since I did not agree to pay for any services besides the fill.
I started to think that something was wrong when she cut my nails super short and buffed them like she was going to put on extensions. I asked what she was doing, and she said she was putting on extensions. I thought, well, she’s already ruined what I have of natural nails, so I guess might as well get the extensions (still assuming that my nails would be dipped, not gel).
So then she starts to put THE SAME material (the one she said was the reason they couldn’t do the fill) that they used at the last salon on top of the extensions. And that’s when I freaked out.
I asked the technician to please explain to me exactly what she was planning to do to my nails. She called over the guy from the front and he explains to me, as if it’s no big deal, that she is going to do a gel manicure- exactly what I came in with.
$70 later, I couldn’t feel more taken advantage of. I told the staff that this entire situation could have been easily avoided, all that needed to happen was that when they weren’t able to provide the service we agreed on (a fill) that they explain what they would like to do instead.
The worst part was not only could they not seem to agree with that, they did not accept any fault or even empathize with my frustration in at way.
How can you trust a business that charges you for services you didn’t need and didn’t ask for? I honestly feel scammed.
