2 /5 Carey Gaynes: I tried switching dentists, but this was a very odd first visit. Alas, I’ll be going back to my previous dentist—if for no other reason than we both agree that we’re currently living in the year 2025.
I only had one appointment here, and I don’t want to be mean—especially since they asked for this review—but on multiple concerns I raised and questions I asked about my dental health, the responses from Dr. Kay felt surprisingly outdated. Not in a charming, old-school way—in a “wait, is this still how we’re doing things?” kind of way.
The staff was warm and lovely. The whole experience felt like being offered a rotary phone at an Apple Store—kind of quaint, kind of confusing.
But if you’re looking for a dentist who’s kept up with current research and cosmetic options, this may not be the right fit.

Ps, Hey, Doc! You CAN apply MI Paste (or MI Paste Plus, the version with fluoride) to your teeth and wear a retainer over it to prolong contact, and MANY DENTISTS actually recommend this exact method for patients with weakened enamel, early cavities, or sensitivity.
What Happens When You Use MI Paste with a Retainer Overnight:
•   Extended contact = more benefit. Keeping MI Paste on your teeth longer (like 8 hours under a retainer) allows the calcium, phosphate, and fluoride to deeply remineralize enamel.
•   Saliva dilution is reduced. Normally, saliva washes paste away in minutes. A retainer helps trap it where it’s needed.
•   Sensitivity reduction. Many people notice less tooth sensitivity after doing this consistently.
⸻
What MI Paste Actually Does:
1. Rebuilds Enamel:
•   Your teeth are constantly losing and gaining minerals through everyday things—eating, drinking, brushing, even breathing.
•   MI Paste delivers calcium and phosphate, the two key building blocks of enamel, right where your teeth need it most—on weakened or demineralized areas.
2. Protects Against Cavities:
•   Those calcium and phosphate ions help reverse early signs of tooth decay (like white spots or rough enamel).
•   If you’re using MI Paste Plus, it also contains fluoride, which teams up with calcium and phosphate to make enamel more acid-resistant.
3. Reduces Tooth Sensitivity:
•   Exposed dentin or weakened enamel can make your teeth sting when you eat or drink hot, cold, or sweet things.
•   MI Paste plugs microscopic holes and strengthens the surface, helping to reduce sensitivity.
4. Neutralizes Acids in Your Mouth:
•   The paste’s formula helps buffer acids caused by bacteria, soda, sugar, coffee, etc., which means it can also help balance your oral pH and reduce risk of erosion.
